Hoo- Ha outside the Dome sunday - People Jam
This was some bad planning. Help me to understand why you would close two big ramps on game day?
I knew they would close Girod to traffic, but to people's feet? So you had the population of WhoDat Nation on the Claiborne side, packed up like a fire drill gone wrong. Add to that the heightened security/ full body scans, and you get about 20,000 people who miss the kickoff. You know, how can they not tell a Yat from an Al Quaeda? Fortunately, everyone was in an exceptionally good mood. |
Well the world we live in its not just Al Quaeda... it is also some nut living next to us now days.

These are crazy times.

Time have always been crazy. The only difference is now every little thing that happens is posted on the Internet and reported on dozens of news channels and radio...
They just used to make you feel safe by keeping everything quiet. But, I assure you, it was always crazy. |

For what it's worth, the plan was to have the area in question finished before the game. My office is right there on Poydras and Loyola, and it has been a giant cluster-f%$#@ for weeks.
I think the reason they closed it to foot traffic as well as vehicular traffic had to do with the fact that there are major holes and trenches being dug due to the street car lane addition. But I feel your pain, I bet it was a nightmare! |

street in New Orleans how? ha. I wouldnt say it was a "nightmare," just inconvienient, and kinda ridiculous. just seems like it could have been avoided, by using a small fraction of a brain. I dont know, if this happened on some other day's I might have gone OJ. |

Even without the (probably unavoidable) street closures it's been an absolute clustercluck getting into the Dome this year. It's like the "Fest Security" people in their yellow shirts have NO IDEA that 70,000 people are suddenly going to show up each week on Sunday morning to go to the game...too few lines, too few staff, they are totally disorganized, the "Fest Security" staff have terrible belligerent attitudes, and most importantly, they have no company/personnel management or supervisors around, no one to step up and take charge, fix problems or address bottlenecks, to get people moving when there's a problem....they are "stuck on stupid" as General Honore would say.

Lets dont do politics on this thread. I dont want to know everybody's
messed up beliefs. SO... I wonder if they're going to have all that fixed before the Lions game. |
No wonder the dome wasn't full at kick off. We were sitting there talking about it, all I could come up with at the time is that there must be something holding them up and well, I guess was right. Enjoyed the game immensely but the crowd seemed a little subdued, not as much energy as previous trips there.

OK, now this is weird. Maybe it's because we walked over to the dome at 11:10 from Allegros and got to Gate E about 11:20 but it was the fastest we ever got in. I had to chug my beer cause the line went so fast. 5 minutes tops. Guess we beat the rush.
