Saints have hardest remaining schedule

Saints have toughest remaining schedule - NFC South Blog - ESPN

Halo 11-10-2011 11:52 AM

I'd rather have the easiest schedule, this isn't be BCS.

strato 11-10-2011 11:56 AM

Aww yes... but the Giants and Lions are in the dome..do y'all remember the last time these teams came to the dome?.

st thomas 11-10-2011 11:57 AM

yes, as of now it looks that way but in 2-3 weeks from now it could change fast if some bad team goes on a roll.

Tough games will prepare the Saints better for the playoffs - as in overcoming obstacles while uniting the team - as opposed to having rest of the regular season games be Colts-esque, and going into the playoffs feeling overconfident.

...at least that is how I want to twist it.

Saintsfan4ever 11-10-2011 02:54 PM

Bring it! I don't think we can stand too many of the 1-6 teams.

halloween 65 11-10-2011 03:13 PM

I would not want it any other way. Battle Tested.

Danno 11-10-2011 03:59 PM

Seven games left...

We play 4 teams with a winning record, 3 at home.
We play 3 teams with losing records or .500, 1 at home.

I can live with that.

Playing tougher teams, most of which are at home, should harden and sharpen us and thus give us the edge come playoff time.

One game at a time. We play well against tuff teams & not so well against lame teams. The remaining schedule may work out very good for us. It will keep them focused week to week.

Yep, so basically in a nutshell, our schedule strength is meaningless. If we play well, we win.

After Sunday, we'll be favored in every remaining game.

skymike 11-10-2011 06:00 PM

GOOD!

We suck at playing bad teams.

I dont do the "sizing-up-the-schedule" thing anyway.

SaintsRule11 11-10-2011 06:14 PM

Luckily, three of the hardest teams - the Giants, the Lions, and the Failclowns - we get to face in the Superdome (the road game against the Failclowns notwithstanding).

Agreed. You have to beat the best to be the best. :bng:

Health being the key...

You can spin stats almost any way you want.

QBREES9 11-10-2011 08:43 PM

Thats allright, bring it we an take it.

jeanpierre 11-10-2011 11:06 PM

Remember the beginning of the season when we were gonna walk through the schedule?

Barry from MS 11-11-2011 03:36 PM

Just no winless or 1-2 win teams. Colts game withstanding, the Saints are simply awful against those "weaker" teams. I'd prefer to play the "stronger" teams the rest of the way. My sanity can't handle another Rams game.

TheOak 11-12-2011 04:47 AM

Pat Yasinkas is an idiot....We learned the hard way that W-L percentage is absolutely no way to judge tie difficulty of a game.

Seattle 2010, St Louis 2011', Tampa Bay 2011", taught us that...

True, and total win percentage is a faulty stat. Really bad or really good teams skew the stats.

Which is really more difficult on paper,

Playing 3 teams whose records are 1-9, 7-3, 7-3 = 50% winning percentage
Or
Playing 3 teams whose records are 9-1, 3-7, 3-7 = 50% winning percentage

Both have 50% win percentage, but 1 shedule has two tough teams and a weak one and the other has one tough team and two weak teams (on paper).

All I need to know is that the Saints will be favored in every game after this Sunday, and if they play well, they'll win all of them.

Further to Danno's post above:

I think this tells us more about who has hardest schedule (even if I don't know how they worked it out)
NFC Strength of Schedule - All Games - Group by Division

Strength of Schedule is the cousin of Power Rankings.
The gayer, dumber cousin.
