You thought he had a good game?

Halo 11-13-2011 03:59 PM

I thought he played well, got an INT today and has been playing better this season.

Considering his skillset hed did have a good game. Great pick and was one of the best tacklers on the team. He is too slow to cover Gonzales for example but the coaches knows that so if they put him in that position I put that on them.

Yeah he was solid not perfect...but those blown coverages weren't his fault..

Cruize 11-13-2011 04:02 PM

In other news, Harper still has hands of stone. LOL.

But trailing miserably on several plays certainly were.

I'll admit, he didn't play as bad as he normally does.

That's an insult to stone.:p

But he had a GREAT game otherwise. Gameball, again.

On one play he handed off to Greer...that was T.G.....like you say about Harper..sometimes its hard to cover a HOF TE...

papz 11-13-2011 04:13 PM

He had a solid game. I'm certainly not going to blame him when we schemed for him to cover their slot receiver... that would be ridiculous. I was wondering why Jenkins looked like a deer in the headlights one of few of those.

I will even agree to this. Better than normal, the INT was a gift in hi slap. I will give credit where it is due.

Good Game D!!

skymike 11-14-2011 07:30 AM

He's a Saint.

Im rooting for him.

RaginCajun83 11-14-2011 08:19 AM

For once he made a play, good for him ..... it's sad that this guy gets praise for finally doing what most OLBs do around the league on a regular basis

FinSaint 11-14-2011 10:04 AM

Agreed he played well for Shanle, but nothing great in my mind. The INT was a gift - which if dropped would've brought out the tar and feathers - he was poor in coverage, but as already was stated, that was no surprise and a mismatch.

But, on the other hand, he was the first to tackle Snelling on that TD run in which almost everyone had his try to bring him down, but Shanle could've ended the play with a crisp initial tackle being the first one to get to the runner

Still, one of his better games I can remember.

AlaskaSaints 11-14-2011 10:13 AM

Stop the gushing.

Shanle still a turd in my book.

But a Saintly turd. I'm very happy that he had his 15 seconds of fame. Now , back to the Mediocrity Show.

Well, hope not...

Alaska

Hey this thread was good Mojo..maybe i will start one about Will Smith...lol

darstep 11-14-2011 10:46 AM

Good game for Shanle.
He stepped it up for us on yesterday.
As slow as he may appear, he has played better, week to week, than ALL the guys up front.
And as it has been stated several times, if there was someone better, he would be watching from the sideline.

Danno 11-14-2011 11:17 AM

Other than a gift pick, Shanle played his typically bad game.

Then start a Shanle bashing thread...no one claims he is all world..but he is durable and steady...nothing flashy...i saw a lot of blown coverages and whiffs and they were not all # 58...:)

Look at the picks that were missed..Harper could have ended it with the gift he got..but as usual..with all our DBs he dropped it..

st thomas 11-14-2011 12:02 PM

i've said this plenty of times and a few others people as well, until a back-up unseats this sucker he is the best we have and we need to support him like all other saints. and i really know no one is really bashing one of our own we just expect better play at a really important piece to the de. and like papz said earlier, m. jenkins has been out of position more than i can count on 2 hands this season and nobodys bashing him because alot of us has stamped greatness on his name already. but he is young and unlike shanle has a long career ahead of him.

Well, if it weren't for those guys up front - Shanle would never have had that gift INT he received, because if the pass wouldn't have been interrupted by Cam Jordan (I think it was him) that play would have never happened.

SapperSaint 11-14-2011 12:50 PM

I say screw Shanle. Whoop-t-do; he makes one INT. He is still a weak link at LB. I am not on the "Lets make Shanle feel better" wagon anymore.

Who else is heads above Shanle..lol..i mean really come on..

He is the 2nd best LB we have now after Vilmas injury...

It is what it is...Wilson might be better, but he doesnt know the D yet...

No need to kill this guy..he is not responsible for one single loss this year..

He never gets hurt...and rarely gets a penalty ...

vilma is a pro bowl linebacker......shanle has outplayed him and the rest of our unit this season

you can criticize him in regards to our entire linebacking corps but if you think shanle is having a bad season then you're clearly in denial

As I said earlier, the best of a bad group of LB's is still bad. If you can't see that maybe you should revert back to your pro Stinchcomb/Kreutz analysis that worked out so horribly for you.

And as I've said before, the sad part is that he's at worst our 3rd best LB.

He's mediocre at his best.

Quote:

262 of Ryan's 351 yards came against our LBers.
10 QB pressures (1- Ellis, Jenkins. 2- Galette. 3- Smith, 1- Casillas)
3 QB hits (1- Harper. 2- Smith)
Roman Harper rated the best defender at +1.3,
Shanle rated the worst defender at -6.3.

if you wanna bring up stinch and kreutz why not do it in their threads? we saw a dropoff in play with both of them gone so whats your point? that if we lose shanle our linebackers will get worse?

thats about as true a statement as you can make

I'm not surprised the least bit on how he graded out defensively. To have your OLB, and Shanle at that, cover Harry Douglas multiple times with Jenkins in the land of the lost would lead to such a poor rating.

halloween 65 11-14-2011 04:37 PM

You all with a few exceptions, please quit picking on my boy Scott "Silk Hands" Shanle, that INT. turned the game, without it were 6-4 period. I thank him.

I'd rather thank Roddy White, without him practically handing it to Shanle we lose.

And if it weren't for Shanle's mediocre play the rest of the game we'd have won without it.

To recap...

262 of Ryan's 351 yards came against our LBers.
Shanle rated the worst defender at -6.3.

Who's doing this grading again?

ProFootball Focus.

Its a pay per view site (40.00 per year) so I just re-capped some info from someone who actually paid for it. I should probably give him credit but its a Saints site that most of us hate.

You'll have to trust me that I'm re-capping it accurately. I only lie to women.
