One other thing to consider about that call: by using the time out there, the Falcons basically lost the opportunity to try and draw the Saints defense offsides without even having to snap the ball. Coming back from a time out, everybody on the defense has huddled up, talked it over, which kinda calms them down and clears their head, making it very hard to draw a defense off with a snap count in that situation -- but if the defense is skittish/panicked, and on their heels, not sure what is going on, and you're unexpectedly setting up at the line to go for it, it is MUCH easier to get them to jump.
