2nd seed now a possibility for the Saints?
The 49ers are now 9-2 and have the following games left:
Dec. 04 vs Rams Dec. 11 @ Cardinals Dec. 19 (MNF) vs Steelers Dec. 24 @ Seattle Jan. 01 @ Rams |
Man they have an easy schedule. I see us being an 11-5 team and with their schedule, they may finish 12-4.
|
They have an easy schedule - they may drop one to the Steelers but otherwise they will only lose one more. In addition, since we are one game closer they will be playing to keep the second seed. Saints have a good remaining schedule that they could win out - depends on which defense plays!
|
We need to win out to stand a chance! I can only see the niners possibly losing to the steelers, our team needs to play like they want it!
|
Mark my words, the Rams will get one of those games also. ;)
|
Difficult for the Saints. Our games look more difficult than theirs. And then their are the dang NFC games we lost already
|
... I dont like to size up the schedule, and pretend I know how each game
will go. But our two remaining road games are Minn and Tenn. Leaving our tougher opponents to all be coming to our house. But again, I dont like sizing up the schedule. Too many ifs and butts. But... If the season ended today: NFL.com news: Playoff Picture 2011 And if you were the type to size up the schedule, I would place my bets that we will be needing to keep those thermal drawers handy. But first we have to beat the "Seattle"s of the world. |
1. we need to win out. 2. We cannot tie with them because they will have a better conference record. 3. They will lost to the Steelers; we just need to hope they drop at least one of those NFC West games and we will take the second seed. We have to finish 13-3 to be the second seed....bottom line
|
I think we take the 3 seed. Unless we win out, then game on. Long way to go however and anything can happen.
|
nah, king cutta, i think we're assuming things again here.
How do we know the Niners wont get all pumped up for the Steelers and beat them, and then turn around and lose to the Seahawks. Stuff like that happens all the time, right? People lose to the Seahawks. or Rams. I do agree, we need to try to run the table. This means, we gotta go out there and play balls to the wall vs. the Giants. And treat each week like a playoff game. And maybe the Panther game will be more than an exhibition practice game for our backups, for a change. |
My opinion is that the 49ers aren't that good. They are a beneficiary of a weak schedule. They only played 3 decent teams and that's counting a sliding Giants team. The other 2 are the Ravens and Cowboys in which they both lost. Waste of a 2 seed and 1 and done in the playoffs.

Gotta stay positive:
1- they lose two more, we win out -> we get the 2 2- we get the 3, win at home, and then go to SF and win. Busting with confidence, we do NOT lose on the last play of the game, and we head to Indy |
If we win the next 6; then we gotta win 9.
Just when you think you know this team, you find out that one of your key DB's thinks like a thug. In the '09-'10 season we won our first 13 games before being defeated by the Cowboys. We went on to win the Superbowl. Who are we missing from our Superbowl squad that is a net LOSS? ...? Exactly, we are a stronger team TODAY than we were as World Champions. That's just my humble, novice opinion. Can we do this? Sure. Am I confident? Absolutely. Can we blow this? Sure. Am I worried about that? Absolutely. If we remember what got us to a Championship, we can repeat as Champions. Lets just hope the G.W. and Payton have good memories. Alaska |

Sharper is a net loss. Sorry. His image didn't pop into my head at the time.

The Rams are a rival (like the ones we have) so both of those won't be pushovers either; and the Rams did beat us... |

Man, would it be fun to play the 9ers in the divisional round at Candlestick, and beat them! But. lets not get ahead of ourselves. The Saints still have to secure the #3 seed... and that's not going to be easy. Beating the Giants Monday night would help a lot, but I am still skittish about that game, since the Giants absolutely have to win that game in order to have any realistic chance of making the playoffs. |

I agree we need the Niners to loss two NFC games and their remaining schedule is week with that said the Saints just play whodat ball for the remainder and let the chips fall where they may |

(a) they are not mathematically eliminated despite Tom Coughlin as their coach, and... (b) Eli Manning is their quarterback, and... (b) as long as Tony Romo is QB in Dallas in December... Winter is Coming... |
Niners will go 2-3 the rest of the way, which we would still have to go 5-1.
It's do able.... |
The niners look good......now, who's solidifying their front line again? Oh yeah, our old center.
