New Orleans Saints CB Tracy Porter fined by NFL for late hit
James Varney, The Times-Picayune 12/02/2011 9:45 PM "In a game that had its share of vicious hits - some flagged; some flagged under dispute - the only Saints player to wind up facing a fine was cornerback Tracy Porter, according to a league source. Porter was hit with a $7.500 fine Friday for hitting a New York Giant out of bounds in New Orleans 49-24 victory last Monday night. Porter's fine wound up lost in the shuffle somewhat Friday, given that the biggest news coming from NFL headquartes in New York, and the decision most anticipated by Saints fans looking toward Sunday night's game with Detroit, involved Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh. Suh's appeal of his 2-game suspension for unsportsmanlike conduct in his team's Thanksgiving Day loss to Green Bay was rejected by a hearing board Friday. Suh will not play against the Saints." Well, you knew they were gonna fine him. At least it was minimal. |
I'm still bummed for him. Hope it doesn't make him play more careful than he already is... I can't stand it!

Just a stupid play by Porter. In today's NFL you can't do that and not expect a flag. It wouldn't have been fined a few years ago, but it was certainly flag worthy.
Hopefully he learns his lesson. |
I assume this was the play he got the penalty? STUPID play, worthy of the penalty, but a fine? Not only wasn't it flagrant, he barely brought the guy down.

For him 7500 is like 20 bucks for you & me
