Saints Wont Make Big Splash in Free Agency
I was quietly hoping that Mickey had said he wasn\'t going to be busy in free agency as a smokescreen to cover his true intentions, but it doesn\'t appear at this point to be the case.
In other news... Free agent running back Aaron Stecker came to the Saints facility in Metairie on Wednesday and visited with Saints officials as the 2004 NFL free agent period got under way. http://www.neworleanssaints.com/news...?articleid=652 [Edited on 3/3/2004 by ScottyRo] |
Saints Wont Make Big Splash in Free Agency
Hey Danno, that\'s just the point. We overpay questionable talent (Jones, Gandy, Sloan) in positions where we\'ve made our own bed, but underpay nobodies or has-beens at real areas of need (Ambrose, Ruff, Rodgers....).
I don\'t mind paying a top 10 corner top 10 money. The key to that is that the guy has proven that he\'s top ten, and has the ability to stay there. Don\'t pay a guy who might be top ten in a few years or who was top ten three years ago top ten money. Whatever. Here it comes again. 4 or 5 players away from serious contention and we\'ll sign another Dale Carter and two more Orlando Ruffs. |
