New Orleans Saints: Why Drew Brees Is Not a Legitimate NFL MVP Threat

SSo think about what happened on Sunday. Aaron Rodgers finally lost, and according to the numbers, he deserves a lot of the blame for it.

He only hit 48 percent of his targets on Sunday.

Drew Brees on the other hand, threw five touchdown passes and hit 80 percent of his passes. In fact, he's thrown 16 TDs, and no interceptions in the past five games.

Is Rodgers losing his lead? Of course he is. My problem? Now that people believe the gap is closing, it must mean it is incredibly narrow.

My friends, that is simply a joke, and here's why.

For starters, it's not like the panel just forgets about the first half of the season. Every game is accounted for, and for the first half of the season, Rodgers and Brees played quite differently.

Rodgers only had three interceptions—two of which were tipped off the hands of his receivers, while Brees threw 11 interceptions.

Folks, we're just getting started here. Everything I'm about to say doesn't just apply to Rodgers and Brees this season, but respectively throughout their careers as well. That's another conversation for another time, but it's worth noting.

If I didn't know any better, I would have thought Mr. Magic wrote this article.

There were some good points in there. Like how Rogers is obviously stoned every game and is one of the most arrogent players in the league. And how hard Drew Brees works every game, before during and after (cause you KNOW Aaron Rogers would have been studying pics and going over plays and listening to plays even after he had been pulled for the remainder of the Minnesota game). And how Drew doesn't get sacked because of his quick release, pocket presence and decision-making making ability.

After we beat the Packers IN Lambeau this year, I hope Drew gets up to the podium at the post game press conference and credits the off season work outs they had.

Most of that article is bull****. **** em. I can't wait to beat the hell out of Aaron Rogers and the Packers in the playoffs.

the packers do have better WRs

they probably even have a better defense

head coach? probably a toss up

i will give us the edge in OLine and running backs but saying rodgers gets sacked more because his OLine is bad is a joke

aaron rodgers holds the ball about as long as anybody in the league. he gets sacked because he wont throw the ball away. he throws so few INTs because he is willing to hold the ball until a guy gets open but that causes some problems as far as getting pressured

brees on the other hand will throw the ball away and will force balls into coverage because he trusts his WRs....he doesnt hold the ball very long at all and that can also promote low sack totals

aside from TDs(very important) and wins(very important)....drew is having a better season

having said that.....wins go to the TEAM, not the PLAYER and crediting any one player with team victories is ignorant

"Rodgers only had three interceptions—two of which were tipped off the hands of his receivers, while Brees threw 11 interceptions."

I believe many of Brees' interceptions were also tipped off of his recievers' hands. But was that mentioned? Of coarse not.

Aaron Rogers is an arrogant a**. You can see it when he answers questions to the press. He was even laughing after the loss to KC like it was no big deal. I haven't heard much of him doing anything for the community or the troops, etc. We shall see how good he is now that his OL is banged up.

do you guys expect people to cry after something bad happens?

he wasnt crying but he wasnt laughing either

i love how forum posters love to give players personalities as if they havent been pursuaded by the media to do so

you dont know aaron rodgers and you dont know how he felt after the game....what you do know is you dont like him

you shouldnt try to portray a player to be a god or a devil without knowing anything about them. rodgers is loved by his city, his team, and his fans

by all accounts hes a great guy

I believe in the end and I do mean in the end Brees is going to get his respect over Rodgers and all of the time, effort and sweat he puts in, day in and day out, will pay off. Brees respect is immeasurable.

I'd like to point out that Rogers threw 7tds against minny this year (4/3) played the g-men (4tds). You can't denigrate Brees' performance against those teams and not Rogers.

Except for the inter-conference schedule, we've played essentially the same teams. Similar performances. I'd argue that Houston was a tougher nut than any AFCW opponent, and given how awful each's offense was when GB played them, Rogers is getting a serious pass.

Now, I'm not defending Brees' incomprehensible moments (TB, StL). Rogers hasn't had those games. But to say that Brees isn't close is ridiculous.

Good weather outside is the same as being in a dome, BTW. The only game he's had "weather" in was against the G-men, and winds were light by the end.
