One of the most underrated signings that I can remember. I thought the contract was a little rich for my blood but he's been worth every penny and then some. Kudos to Drew and the front office.

WOW & 4 years with over 2000 total yards

Would love to see a comparison of this year's Sproles numbers to Reggie's best season at New Orleans...
|
Reggie Bush's CAREER STATS:
Games Played: 75 (6 Seasons) Attempts (Rushing/Passing/Returns): 1175 All Purpose Yards: 6,386 TD's: 40 I'm NOT a Reggie hater --- just pointing out that in a SINGLE season Mr. Sproles has nearly 40% of his ALL-PURPOSE yards, almost 25% of his TD's, and hasn't missed a game (I don't think). At $4M a year -- this guy was a STEAL!!! If he keeps this up ... #43 with be hanging next to #9 in the rafters FOREVER!!! |
Quote:
Rushing: 155 for 565 Yards (Avg 3.6) Passing: 88 for 742 Yards (Avg 8.4) Returns: 28 for 216 Yards (65 Yards was his long) ALL-PURPOSE YARDS: 1,523 TD's: 9 (6 Rushing, 2 Passing, 1 Return) I also believe his rookie contract paid him $3.8M his first year ... A pretty good upgrade for $200K with Sproles! |
comparing Bush and Sproles is inevitable, but to be honest, SP never used Bush like he is Sproles

As an all purpose player, Sproles is simply better than Bush. I fail to see how that can be debated. He's healthier, appears to be quicker, is more elusive, has better hands and runs north and south (something Reggie has decided he will start doing now he is in Miami!).
I like Reggie a lot but he was a huge propsect out of college and never delivered upon it. He is not a bust, far from it, but simply hasn't lit up like everyone assumed he would have done. Sproles is being used differently in the offence to how Bush was so a direct comparison may be a little harsh. What I would say in Reggie's favour though is if you looked on defence every time Reggie lined up, especially outside of the backfield, say as a slot option, it really messed opposition D up. Do they go man or cover? Do they ignore him or close him down? Stuff like that goes unnoticed but allowed Brees to do a lot more with everyone else. |

Sprint draws, dump offs, screens, occasional between the tackle. How do you see their usage differ? |
