You must have totally missed the point. The point was that GB's offense is just as good without Rodgers. Backup QB playing against a hungry Lions team trying to get the number 5 seed and he shred there defense up. He also managed to break a team record that Rodgers hadn't even done.

Drew's role in N.O. is greater than Rodgers. I would venture to say we would be the Colts this year if we didn't have Drew. Can you say that after seeing Flynn's performance today?

All of this = Drew Brees MVP!

Taken literally, you do take into account how good the backup is when you determine MVP - but in practice, they don't. It goes to the best player.

And it's true Rodgers hasn't thrown those numbers in a game, but part of that is because he didn't have to. Last week against Chicago, he had 5 TDs (don't know how many yards) in three quarters, but he didn't play in the fourth because the game was won. If it had been 35-35 instead of 35-10, he'd have kept throwing and no doubt racking up the records.
