Saints ready for playoff game vs. Detroit
1 Attachment(s)
NEW ORLEANS — Going into Sunday’s regular-season finale, it was almost a given that the New Orleans Saints were going to have a rematch in the NFC wild-card playoff round with one of the teams they beat this season.
The first part of the playoff equation was completed when the San Francisco 49ers clinched the No. 2 seed and a first-round bye with a 34-27 win over the St. Louis Rams, just minutes after the Saints’ 45-17 bashing of the Carolina Panthers in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. About 30 minutes later, the third-seeded Saints (13-3) learned that they will open the playoffs against the Detroit Lions (10-6) after they fell to the No. 6 seed with a 45-41 loss to the Green Bay Packers in snowy Lambeau Field. The Saints and Lions, who met in the Superdome on Dec. 4, will play at 7 p.m. Saturday in the same venue in a game to be televised by NBC. That network also had the earlier game, which the Saints won 31-17. There was a slim chance the Saints would have to play the Atlanta Falcons, whom they defeated Monday night to claim the NFC South title and secure at least one home playoff game, before the Packers rallied to send the Lions to New Orleans gain. Detroit finished second to Green Bay in the NFC North. “Whoever we play, that’s who we’ve got to be ready for,” running back Darren Sproles said after the Saints equaled the franchise record for wins in a season and obliterated numerous NFL and club marks. Say Atlanta beats the Giants', which I think they will, do they still play Green Bay?
I'd be looking forward to that. It'd be a great indicator as to how well we'll do against Green Bay. It looks like the NFC will end up being the true Super Bowl this year. |
I don't see Atlanta beating the Giants as a given. The Giants front 7 is pretty decent and should give the Falcons O-Line some trouble... Especially playing in NY
|
If we win, we play San Fran regardless of the ATL/NYG outcome.
Green Bay will likely have to play the Giants, which is good because they're used to the environment and I think they have a better shot at beating GB than ATL does. An NFCCG could very well be in New Orleans!!!! |
Oh it won't be the Giants if we win.

Yes, homer is right.
I like what D.Sproles said. I really am trusting this coaching staff and players that they are prepping for this game, one game at a time. They are on a roll. Just do it. |
