Dick King votes for Rodgers as MVP
|
I would prefer he voted for Brees but I can understand his reasoning, even thou I don't agree with all of it.

I find it ironic that one of his reasons for voting for Rodgers was the Packers winning 13 straight.
Brees and the Saints did the same thing in '09 and he STILL voted for Peyton Manning. |

As I've already said in some other thread, and I know most of you agree, there is no single player in the NFL who is more valuable to his team than Brees is to the Saints...and it's not even close.
If it's a statistical award only, well, even then Brees has a valid argument, but, if it's a combination of stats and intangibles and community then the award is Drew's, period. And I'm not being a homer either. Anybody who looks beyond the stats cannot argue. We all saw what the GB backup was able to do yesterday. He even eclipsed Rodgers performance. Case closed. But the media will give the award to Rodgers because they have that GB stiffy going right now. In the end, when Drew is inducted into the Hall of Fame, he will take the high road and won't mention the fact that the league slighted him year after year after year, but we'll all know it to be true. They should validate the aware and give the MVP to Drew. Period. |
I'd probably vote for Rodgers too. He's been phenominal.

My case against Rodgers is as follows: Matt Flynn 31/44 480yds 6tds 136.4 passer rating with same offense minus greg jennings against playoff bound lions. Sounds to me like the packers wouldnt miss rodgers nearly as much as the saints and patriots would miss there QBs.

How many times has Rodgers been sacked this season? Sounds to me like the o-line should get mvp.....

I think the fans have voted.....

League MVP is a great award and I believe Drew is deserving of such an honor but thats not the ultimate goal is it? Drew and the team broke a bunch of records and thats all well and good, but in the end, none of that really matters unless we win it all. The way our team is playing right now I really feel that we are gonna bring home the ultimate prize again. And that my friends, is why we are here.

Meanwhile, Chase Daniel has a career QB rating of 88.0 |

The difference between them to me is two things: interceptions and attempts. But, there are more things than passer performance to consider in MVP.
If MVP means which team would melt down without a player -- the award goes to Peyton Manning. |
This Is The Same Reason I Can't Really Agree With Tom Brady Being A GREAT QB...It's The System, The System Is Made For A Quarterback To Shine In..I Don't Think Flynn Could Have Put Up That Performance On Any Team...He Wasn't That Good In LSU And I Don't Think 2-3 Years On The Bench Made Him Better

My thoughts exactly. I thought that the MVP is someone who without their respective team would not succeed. The Packers could clearly get it done without Rodgers (against a good Lions team), but I find it very hard to imagine that the Saints could dominate or even win a game with significance to both playing sides with Daniel as the QB. I' don't want to take anything away from Daniel as he will probably get his chance to be the No.1 at some point in his career with some team, but to even suggest that he could do what Brees does is ludicrous. I'd say it is between Brees and Brady really... |
