However, I hav'nt been to New Orleans since 1981. I'm gonna need A LOT of advice for coming down there. Where to park, where the places are you guys meet, etc. etc. I'm a rookie when it comes to New Orleans. LOL

We always park in a parking garage in between Loyola and Rampart off of Poydras right before you get to Girod. New Orleans Street Map and Driving Directions | State of Louisiana
Before the road construction on Loyola for the new streetcar tracks we use to exit Loyola right before the bridge but now we take the Poydras exit off of I-10 and then turn right on S. Rampart. There are cheaper places to park it is $30 for parking but your car is safe and in a covered garage with NOPD security. There are a couple of outdoor bars set up plus indoors at Allegros and there is a DJ cranking music. There is a alleyway between the parking garage and office building that Allegros is in where all this is set up and we usually stand by the S.Rampart street side by the oak trees with a cooler. Come grab a beer with us. Can't miss us. I'm 6'1" 280 lbs wearing #98 Ellis jersey smoking a cigar and Budweiser in hand with a my 6'1 blonde haired wife. She really sticks out in the crowd. Come get a beer than you can walk over and check out Champions square if you never saw it or go see Bobby and Deke braoadcast their show by the dome. I also believe Ricky Jackson and Vaughan Johnson will be at the Saints HOF museum between 5-7 by gate B if you want to see them.:bng:

The map didn't stay zoomed in on the location so just zoom in on Poydras and S.Rampart and you'll see the area.

Thanks Budsdrinker. That looks like a good spot. Easy to get to. Probably a ***** to get out of though. LOL I'll be driving to down Baton Rouge Friday night and spending the night there. Couldn't afford a hotel in New Orleans. But I'll leave Baton Rouge about 7:00 Saturday morning and get into the city early, hopefully before the CRAZY traffic starts, get parked, and take it easy the rest of the day.

I'll be easy to spot. I'll be the guy with the Drew Brees Superbowl Jersey and the black Saints hat on. LOL

Thanks for the help. I'm sure I will need more as the game gets closer. Ohhhh Maaaan I can't wait!

funny you would say that, Hulka.

There is nothing harder than finding someone in New Orleans. We're all
wearing the same thing, pretty much... "Oh yeah... im the guy in the Saints Jersey, and my wifes wearing a shiny gold outfit." Could be one of 500,000 people....lol.

thats said, we'll be there, and I'll be having a beer with Budsdrinker & wife & compadres.

Apologies to those of you I missed meeting this weekend. Halo lives way farther than I had a concept of, and the St. Charles car is slower than I imagined also, so I missed the tailgater. This was the only disappointment of the weekend, but we'll get together for the NFC Championship.

It was an outstanding weekend in New Orleans, short for me, as all our trips are flying trips, but saw some sights.

Budsdrinker 01-09-2012 08:08 AM

Yep, I was where I said I would be with a cooler of beer and a couple extra cigars but none of you showed up. Where's AlaskaSaint when you need him? LOL

SAINTstunna 01-09-2012 08:16 AM

All my fault. everybody had MY #, and then I got stuck at the end of the St. Charles line.

we'll get it right for the NFCCG.

btw, I recommend Uptown, and the St. Charles, but just allow some extra time. Those cars do a lot of stopping. Awesome experience, though.

We were going to do that the first time we played Detroit back in December but after waiting 30 minutes for a streetcar I said screw it and we walked. Never did see a streetcar pass the whole time walking. Don't have much faith in public transportation in Louisiana especially on Saints gameday. One funny story on that. Back in 87 when we made the playoffs for the first time, after the game when we clinced, the ferry by my house was shutdown because none of the deck hands showed up for work that evening. They were still partying.

My apologies for not getting to meet up with you Mike and Buds. I met Guido and his wife Saturday noon for lunch and they gave me a tour of the Quarter. We had a great time. My thanks to you and your wife Guido! You guys made my day. Right before the game, I got turned around and wandered off in the wrong direction, so I never made it to Allegro’s before the game. By the end of the game, my phone was dead, so I was blind and deaf. With no way to contact anyone I would have been wandering aimlessly. I will be back, and we will try again. I had a great time in NOLA. With all the fans in town, all the activities going on, all the things to see and do, it was a great day. Keep an eye out. I have a few pics to post.

Oh it felt so good to finally be back in New Orleans and in the Superdome this weekend. Sometimes you just know when your "home".

We (dad, bro, me) get to the quarter about 2 ish, walk around and go eat. Well go back to car, its towed. We spent an hour under I-10 dealing with that mess and then made it to the dome about 4:30. Hung outside the dome till the doors opened, watched the second half of the Texans game inside the dome

We enjoyed it too, Hulka! We were happy to show you around. By the time we finished our traditional post game meal at Coop's Place the wife and I were wiped out and not wanting to deal with the BCS crowd. Besides, it was pretty late by then and we had partied pretty hardy at the Old Opera House the night before.

you know, we were WIPED too. We made our way over to the QUARTER at the edge of Canal, did a little walking, and guess you guys were done for the day... and my wife said pretty much the same thing... a nice party is fine, but we werent in the mood for 20 year old
screaming people. we'll get to town at a decent hour for the NFCCG!
