Am I taking this too personal?

Or is that dude riding the hater wagon along with Skip Clueless? Exactly what is Drew's "shortness - both physical and mental". OK, I get he is not 6'5", but how in the world can you question Drew's football IQ (or IQ period, for that matter)???

Whitlock: New Orleans Saints have a dirty little secret - NFL News | FOX Sports on MSN

10. Twice — and sometimes three times — a game, Drew Brees makes a 6-foot mistake, and that’s why the 49ers have a chance to upset the Saints this weekend.

NFL rules strictly forbid the media from discussing Brees’ shortcoming. I’m taking a huge risk revealing to the public the dirty little secret opposing coaches know about The Best Little QB on Bourbon Street.
Because of his stature, impaired downfield vision and need for ego-satiating stats, Brees lobs two or three horrendous passes a game. The key to beating the Saints is securing those gift-wrapped air balls and breaking the serve of New Orleans’ fast-break offense.

The Lions blew their chances, dropping two errant Brees throws. You can blame the sloppy officiating that prevented the Lions from returning a Brees fumble for a touchdown and a commanding 21-7 lead. I blame the Lions for blowing their other opportunities. And so did Detroit coach Jim Schwartz.
Coaches know the truth about Brees. He’s a great player. But the complications of shortness — both physical and mental — leave him vulnerable. In 155 NFL regular-season games, Brees has tossed 146 interceptions, compared with Tom Brady throwing 115 in 161 games.

Again, this is top-secret information outside of coaching circles because the television networks want you to believe you’re watching a once-in-a-lifetime performance. Drew Brees is Dan Marino and Bart Starr rolled into one tiny package!

Don’t get me wrong. I like Brees. He’s excellent. He’s fun to watch. And he appears to have more self-awareness than your average pro athlete. But, like the rest of us, he’s flawed. And I’m at liberty to discuss the flaws that Jim Harbaugh and the 49ers will try to exploit.

So let me get this straight; this guy is saying that if the 49ers win the takeaway stat they win... well no ****!

Why is it all about their defense against our offense; last time I checked their offense is gonna have to do something to put points on the board.

How tall do you have to be to throw to a 6'7 TE and a 6'4 WR. With all their catches I'd say it's around whatever height Brees is in his cleats.

This man passes gas both mentally and rectally, both from the same orifice.

Ha ha ha:mrgreen:
That's funny stuff.

So, Drew IS sort of short for a QB. To me, though, that just makes all of his accomplishments even more impressive. He has to really know his team, their routes, and even the defense so that he can make his precision passes without always being able to see as much as Brady or Rodgers can over their respective Offensive Lines.

As for the INTs. Yes, he has thrown more than Brady. However! Many of those were 1) early in his career and/or 2) when he was on teams like last year's when EVERYONE knew he was going to pass because they didn't have a very strong running team.

Also, he and SP push the ball downfield a lot more than just about any other team. Brady gets his yards by dumping off short little passes and then letting Welker run for 20-30 yards. The Saints stretch the field and go for the long ball a heck of a lot more often. Simple geometry: if the ball is a fraction of an inch off target when it leaves Brady's hand it's not a big deal because it doesn't travel far enough to make much of a difference. When you're slinging it downfield, a slight error in the trajectory makes a much bigger difference. I guarantee most other quarterbacks trying to push it downfield as often as Drew and the Saints do would have a heck of a lot more interceptions...

I think Bayless and Canton are the same person.

Let's start with this coming from fox and going from there. It is, of course a conspiracy that the illuminati-trilateral commission television networks are keeping a secret because no one ever really watches the games for themselves. Yep Drew, unlike any other quarterback, does occasionally choke when the pressure gets intense and he throws a duck. That's why a good OL and coaches who can create good blocking schemes are at such a premium. We can end with Drew, who in spite of his "shortcomings" and bad passes threw for a butt load more yards than anyone else ever has. Man, I hope that guy isn't making more a year than I am.

As I said earlier on another post...

That blogger is a turd of the highest stank. Anyone who discounts Brees as less than mentally or physically stable must be a rocket scientist with the new Obama-era-NASA.

First, interceptions are NOT accurately accounted for in this league. Many have nothing to do with quarterback play. There is a positive correlation between Drew Brees' interceptions and his receivers tipping the ball into defenders hands.

Second, quarterback height DOES NOT seem to be inversely correlated with Brett Farve's pick rate. Farve was 6'2" and in approx. 161 games Farve threw for 257 interceptions.

Third, quarterback height DOES NOT seem to be inversely correlated with Peyton Manning's pick rate. Manning is 6'5" and in approx. 161 games Manning threw for 153 interceptions.

However, high IQ DOES seem to be inversely correlated with this sports writer's intelligence. I think this is Whitlock's dirty little secret.

He won a superbowl. Size aint Sh**

TheOak 01-11-2012 10:00 AM

Secret? They talk about Drew's height quite often.

Discussing height is not an issue apparently... Every sentence that starts off "Darren Sproles....." ends with "at 5'6"".....

In real world terms..... Drew is 6' and our line ave's 6'4" standing straight up.... When do linemen stand straight up?.... After the play.

skymike 01-11-2012 12:39 PM

Theres about 30 guys taller than Brees, who couldnt wear his jock.

jokeray 01-11-2012 02:10 PM

I don't even need to read the article know it's bull****.

I saw it was written by Jason Whitlock. He's one of them there "shock" reporters who says crazy **** in all his articles. I used to read him all the time when he was a beat writer for the Chiefs. Entertaining to read if you want to read someone who doesn't know ****.

dizzle88 01-11-2012 03:16 PM

So what does he think the reason is for brees throwing the most TD passes since 2006 is attributed to? I think brees will prove you wrong!

You are absolutly right jokeray. Jason Whitless' articles usually appears on MSN.com. That should tell you something right there. Whitocks articles almost always have something in them accusing someone of something racist. He plays the race card more than Jesse Jackson. This guy is a tool, has always been a too, and will always be a tool. Forget about anything Whitlock writes, because it's all crap all the time.
