Hartley WHO?!

Just thought I'd throw that out there...

Now give me some Morten Andersen any day.

How many of you still want to resign this clown?

Word is he sat his family just left of the net so they would have a chance at a game ball!

LOL

Saints are going to have a helluva decision next year with Hartley & Kasay.

People need to let go of the OT loss to the falcAints; Hartley is young and has a lot of football left in him.

At least if we release Kasay and he signs with a division rival, the Saints won't have to face him for very long before he retires.

73Saint 01-11-2012 03:21 PM

Or we can pull a "Carney", and keep Kasay on as a consultant, just in case, lol.

SmashMouth 01-11-2012 03:24 PM

We'll likely duplicate this year's scenario ... Play Hartley until he gets hurt, then sign Kasay. Of course, it helps when you don't have to kick 50 yard FG like that Whiners kicker ... err... what's his name Fakers or something?

Rugby Saint II 01-11-2012 03:34 PM

I like Hartley.....outside of the OT kick against the failcons he's been good. Just not reliable if you know what I mean. He owns a Superbowl record for kicks over 40 yards......Hell yes we keep him. Leave Carney on speed dial.

Actually not a bad idea......

I hear ya, Smashmouth, it's like touting your punter. Our punter never made it to the field last week, so I guess he's not a good punter? LOL

So Kasay is 42. It's a LEG. I mean how do you wear out a LEG?

Our young stud pulled a leg muscle, or whatever, swinging his LEG.

But it's just banter. Front office will decide for us, and I'm sure they have our best interest as fans in mind.

Funny thing is Hartley gets a ring if we get a ring this year, right?

Kasey has fill in for Hartley well this year but he is just that, a fill in. Give me the young strong legged kicker any day. See ya' in camp next year Hartley!!

^^^^^^^^ THIS ^^^^^^^^

People REALLY need to let go of that one kick, just LET IT GO....lots of other things went wrong that day, including Drew picks and a critical Ivory fumble and Pierre Thomas breaking a freaking ANKLE on the drive when we were moving and normally could have been closing in on the WIN, not the tie, which no one seems to ever mention (!?!?!).

Other than that kick, Hartley has very solid numbers and is a part of our much-improved special teams unit. Tough decision, but Kasey is old and Hartley is not. Let 'em kick it out in training camp.

SaintsRule11 01-11-2012 03:54 PM

I still can't wrap my head around that miss against the Falclowns. I guess now I understand why Scott Fujita referred to him as "our fat punk kicker." Let's not forget, he missed not one, but two key field goals against the Vikings last season. That could have easily swung the game the other direction.

i love Hartley and I think it would be incredibly stupid not to resign him. he is one of the most promising young kickers in the leauge and he has on heck of a leg.

Budsdrinker 01-11-2012 04:04 PM

Hartley is under contract. He will be back next year.

Budsdrinker 01-11-2012 04:18 PM

Also if we are going to keep using the missed ATL kick against Hartley as the reason why we had to go to Seattle last year then we need to use the Brees' int in the Tampa game this year at the end when he had a wide open Meachem in the middle of the endzone as a reason why we are going to frisco instead of them coming to NOLA and I think that is very foolish.

Signed a 5-year contract in March 2010.

I got two worn out ones. course im older than Kasay.

FinSaint 01-11-2012 05:32 PM

Like biloxi-indian already stated: Hartley has a contract until 2016, which will undoubtedly keep him as the kicker next season.

I don't know how much Kasay is getting for the season, but his Panthers contact would have payed him 2M/season until 2013, while Hartley will "only" be making 650K next season, increasing to 910K in 2015.

iceshack149 01-11-2012 05:47 PM

The kid missed some kicks but he made the biggest kicks of his life in the 2009-2010 season. With out him, who knows what might have been? He's a good kicker.

B_Dub_Saint 01-11-2012 06:59 PM

Let's not forget who sent us to the superbowl. I had my doubts about Kasey but he has proven me wrong but we need a young kicker for next year. In Hartley I trust!
