Official Beer of the New Orleans Saints?
 

For some reason I am extremely superstitious when it comes to football.

One of my traditions when I was a Steelers fan was to buy (and drink) Iron City Beer (the official beer of the Pittsburgh Steelers) during big games.

Does anyone know if there is an official beer of the Saints (not, like, bud light or the NFL official beers)?

The only beer I know of from Louisiana is Abita, which I really like, but I've never seen that associated with the Saints at all...

No official beer other than typical NFL swill. Whatever works for you/the team on game day is what the "official" beverage is! If the Saints are winning and you are still drinking Iron City Beer, keep drinking it!

DIXIE Beer was my favorite. You could taste the cypress casks.

I'd say what's CHEAP, because beer is basically 5% alcohol and 95% urine. Your body processes the alcohol in the form of buzz and your kidneys process the rest and away it goes!!!

Ginger Ale ... I stopped drinking in the middle of 2009 and things have gone pretty fine for the Saints since then!

Abita? Any beer though...

Dixie Beer? ..No! That can't be good for anything. Horrible beer. Coors Light is my beverage of choice while watching the Saints. Unless I'm in the Dome, then I bring a flask. I ain't paying $8.50 for a beer in the Dome, and niether should anybody else. That's beyond ridiculous.

Actually Bud Light is the official beer, not one of my favorites. Amberbock or Abita Amber for me.

Or maybe Bass Ale. You can never fail when drinking Bass Ale.

Whatever beer is in your hand is the official beer. For the Detroit game I had Bud Light, Budweiser and Heineken and not necessarily in that order.

I was knocking down good amounts of Andy Gator at the bar last Saturday for the Lions game... seemed to work out well. The Saints rolled over the Lions, and I crawled back to the quarter for the after-game festivities.

During the detroit game, I went with German beer.

Paulaner Hefe-Weizen

Coors light and Clan McGregor Scotch on the rocks.........or Jack Daniels and Coke. Sometimes it's a mud slide if that's what my girl is having. We alcoholics are fairly easy to please.:wink:

Quarterback? It doesn't matter - Drew is the only quarterback and is on a secret beer and diet combo developed by a Belgian Priest and Tibetan Monks - so the rest are holding clipboards or like the rest of us waiting for our Monday Morning Quarterback Session!

Dixie, Dixie Blackened Voodoo, Dixie Crimson Voodoo Ale and as was already mentioned by Mardisgras9, the Abita Amber! Oh how I miss those flavors as I have only been able to enjoy them when I was in the Crescent City visiting during Jazz Fest many years ago. Dixie isn't made in New Orleans anymore. It was sold to a company and is made in Atlanta..... BLUCK

All the Abita Beers are the unofficial beers of N'awlins.

Just read up on DIXIE. The DIXIE Brewery was severely damaged during Hurricane Katrina. They can't get the old Brewery back in operation so they outsource other brewery's to make the brand.

That probably explains why it doesn't taste the same.

They're doing what they can to bring it back to New Orleans so I'll buy a DIXIE next time I guzzle some brew to support the local brand.

i had three (yes three) Abitas at the game last sat and got a DUI on the way home (my first) I was shocked shocked shocked to know I blew a .08 after three beers.

anyway - no beers for me during the game today.

Oh man...that sucks. When they arrested you did they ask you if you had a towing preference for your car? If they didn't they broke the law.

I mention this because I was once arrested (it was complete BS by the way) for DUI when I was sober as Tim Tebow. This town was known for being, shall we say, overly anxious to write up the local Soldiers for DUI. They didn't ask me about towing, and the following Monday the towing company refused to take a check when I showed up for my truck.

Long story short, that town had an 'arrangement' with that towing company, and of course you gotta pay in cash so there's no record, right? Happens that my cousin, the DA in MY town, pressed this issue and found out the details of the scam. It was agreed that the arresting officer wouldn't show up. He didn't. Case was dropped.

Good luck man. DUI's can :censored: you up.

Just goes to show that its not worth driving after you been drinking, EVER, no matter if its one beer or not, just not worth the risk.


Oh and I consider Abita the beer of New Orleans, love the Amber and am seriously pissed that I can't get it here in Sweden.
They have a huge beer and whiskey festival here every year and I'm hoping they'll show up next year.
