spagnoula,nolan,or jack del rio?

who do you think should be the saints DC next year and why?im still undecided but i am starting to lean more towards spags.

dizzle88 01-15-2012 10:39 AM

Spags would be the best one, I'd be happy to see GW go if we got spags.

He excels with getting pressure with just a 4 man rush, look at what he did in new York with the giants, their D line is constantly at the top in sacks now.

He would play bump and run coverage Aswell and not give the receivers a 10 yard cushion on a 3rd and 3

W. Kovacs 01-15-2012 11:40 AM

Spags, without a doubt; but I would be pretty stoked with Del Rio as well.

Danno 01-15-2012 11:42 AM

Yep, any of the 3 work for me.

QBREES9 01-15-2012 11:58 AM

I'd say the same any of the 3. I just want to be a fly on wall 2 when coach Payton is talking to Williams.

LivnaLieTimay 01-15-2012 12:03 PM

We should make this a poll: Spags, Del Rio, Nolan, keep GW, or any other candidates out there.

My vote is for Spags also. Living in NY I saw most of the Giants games the year they won the Super Bowl. They won because of their defense. Since he left, they haven't been the same. His schemes are great and he would fit perfectly with us.

halloween 65 01-15-2012 12:19 PM

Whoever it is I want them to make us sound, no more rollercoasters, my heart will explode!!!!! Just consistancy would be nice!!!!!

Danno 01-15-2012 12:22 PM

Del Rio just bought a house in New Orleans. Just sayin'!

QBREES9 01-15-2012 12:25 PM

that could be a good thing.

whodat4life 01-15-2012 12:43 PM

Yeah I would of made a poll but don't know how

nicebush25 01-15-2012 12:50 PM

mike nolan built that niner team thats going to the nfc championship. a. smith, gore, v. davis, p. willis, goldson, t. brown, j. staley, a. brooks, a. snyder were all drafted by mike nolan. he also brought in justin smith as a free agent in 2008.

LBCutta 01-15-2012 12:52 PM

any of them would be better than Gregg Williams. I'd like Spags or Nolan. I think being a head coach in J-ville for so long may have tainted Del Rio...lol j/p

Del Rio it is, knowing management they were already ready to move on from GW.

Patricia985 01-15-2012 01:55 PM

Found out from my son that Jack Del Rio was at his high school checking it out for his son. There is at least one more Saints coach that has a son at the same school. Apparently its the school he will attend next year....so take that as you wish. I agree that the d should have stepped it up with 9 secs. left to go, but you have to admit the offense and special teams gave that game away. The defense did hold them back most of the game.

gandhi1007 01-15-2012 05:27 PM

I've always liked Jack Del Rio. Would love to have him as our defensive coordinator. He has a knack for bringing out the best in mediocre players. Plus.....the guys a Saint at his core anyway!

hitta 01-15-2012 07:22 PM

If we got Spagnuolo, the rest of the league would be in trouble.

Hayduke 01-15-2012 07:35 PM

Spags, is too much like GW. HE might do it right but it is obvious with our current Defensive players it will take a year or so for him to hit stride... if he can hit a stride.

Nolan has a good eye but I don't know how well he coaches. The Broncos did well but it only lasted what? a year? I don't know if he has the gusto, but his dad did coach the Saints so that is a plus.

Del Rio is a local guy who has not only played for the Saints but coached for them already. He has one season as DC and did awesome. So I say Del Rio

SmashMouth 01-16-2012 08:29 AM

Anybody but GW? Don't forget GW's son is coaching on the team as well. Does that mean we are hiring two coaches?

mikesaintfan 01-16-2012 08:43 AM

spags or del rio....

gandhi1007 01-16-2012 04:54 PM

Del Rio is a great LB coach.....our most glaring need on D.

Heard on WWL that his son is leaving with him to St. Louis. The reason he didn't go back to Tennessee was because they have a rule that no family members can work together.

What did his son do anyway?

He was offensive quality control.

Basically learning how to run an operation from the best in the business.

Probably like an internship. I think he's probably aiming for management moreso than coaching.

Nothing wrong with learning from the Saints front office.

I think our most glaring need is Dline pressure. If you get pressure everything else can be mediocre. When the giants won the Sb their front four were great and the rest was decentour below average Dline makes the rest look horrible. When our line got pressure with McCray and the blitzing in 09 Porter Greer Sharper Harper all looked awesome. Porter and the rest didn't get worse, they are left in coverage too long. The blitz didn't get there this year which meant trying to cover more wideouts than we have defenders. This is why we need Spags. We get pressure with the front. four and we will be totally unstoppable and we will do what the Gmen did to the pack. Spags is the Payton of defense.

Euphoria 01-16-2012 08:58 PM

No glaring need is teaching.

We did not play good sound defense at all. Missed tackles, DB's not looking for INT's first and foremost. HORRIBLE coaching and teaching.

We were only good because what Sharper brought to the table. They need to hire him as a coach somewhere.

You can teach everything... but no one did.

That is spot on my friend.

alleycat_126 01-16-2012 10:06 PM

Spags is the guy I want, After all he is proven to get pressure with the front four and dbs will have to play head up instead of 10 yards back.

Always been impressed with Jack Del Rio. he has always had a good defense in Jax. Look at how sorry his offense was! Defense was always on the field and still held their ground. Only problem with him is he will get some HC looks in a couple of years

The Dude 01-17-2012 03:48 PM

I want spags.guarantee if we get him Harper will be moved to OLB

A 200 pound OLB? I don't think that's going to happen. He'd be the lightest OLB in the NFL in over 40 yewars.

FireVenturi 01-17-2012 03:58 PM

Looks like del rio is going to be the only one left.
