FWIW
Since 2007, the 2009 New Orleans Saints are the ONLY #1 seed to not lose in the playoffs.
2011 -- No. 1 Packers lost to No 6 Giants 37-20 2010 — No. 1 Falcons lost to No. 6 Packers 48-21. 2009 — No. 1 Saints beat No. 4 Cardinals 45-14 2008 — No. 1 Giants lost to No. 6 Eagles 23-11 2007 — No. 1 Cowboys lost to No. 5 Giants 21-17 |
That's something I guess ...

I am not really that surprised.
Since 2005, the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds are just 10-12 (.454) in the divisional playoff round. That's NFL not just NFC. But to be fair No. 1 seeds are a combined 30-12 in the divisional playoffs since 1990. i.e. 12 lost out of 42. And I know you are referring to pre-conference championship games but since Super Bowl XXVIII, the next (and currently last time) that both number one seeds advanced to the Super Bowl is Super Bowl XLIV. BTW - what is your point? |
