Steve Spaguolo to interview with Saints Wednesday
Former Rams head coach will meet with the Saints on Wednesday. We suspect New Orleans wouldn’t meet with the former head coach unless they were ready to hire him.

My biggest concern is him taking the Colts' HC job....
|
Seriously I have total faith that Loomis and Payton will bring in an upgrade.
It may be someone we've never heard of but I'm OK with what they decide. No one had Payton on their HC radar in 2006. |

Indianapolis Colts will look for offense-minded head coach - ESPN |
I have a hunch that it'll be Spagnola or Del Rio.

Spagnola would be a good fit with SP not so sure about Jack and not Nolan.
|
I can hardley wait to have a new cooridinator and Brees, SP & the offense do make it an attractive place to coach.
|
The new defensive coordinator[whoever it may be] has me excited about the upcoming draft...
|
Hopefully the new DC will convince SP to focus more on improving the defense. I'm also looking forward to see who we can pick up in free agency.
|
IMO, the issues with the Saints defense is more technique and scheme than personel.
I'm not saying that changes are needed, but wholesale housecleaning is not needed. Plus with the offense the Saints have, coming here has got to be appealing. |
If we had to look past the obvious guy's, what about looking at some of the top defense's. What's the constants on those teams besides the DC. Like a LB coach or a DL coach. Somebody who has learned under obviously good DC and could maybe bring something learned from them. Kind of like how Sean got here. Just a thought.
EDIT: I just read some of Sean's press and saw this: On what he’ll look for in a new defensive coordinator: “The real, real talented coaches come in all age groups and they come from all over. They come from college, they come from our league. Some have been head coaches, some haven’t. I just look back at my own experiences and someone gave me an opportunity for the first time. I think that you try to pay attention to all of those things. I think you do as much preparation and homework as you can on the candidates and spend as much time visiting with them, but I don’t think you try to profile.’’ I must be a genius..lol |

Agree with most, but SP could have had the Raiders HC position if would have wanted to, but decided to walk out on the opportunity after meeting with the "crypt keeper" - at least according to his book. Also, he did interview for the GB HC position, which he would have taken, but they did not offer it to him. And I think there was some other one also, which I can not remember, but thankfully he ended up in NO. |
I think Loomis and Payton already know who they want, just playing the game.
|
I'm already fired up! Could be a fun day tomorrow if we have breaking news!

let's face it, whodats wanna know if we hire this guy!!!
This is what fans want to know. SPAGS?? |
Yeah I need to know it would give me closure on this season and get me fired up for offseason.
|
I hope we don't have to cash sell the Dome to pay him, We're keeping Drew Brees so if he cost too much let him walk to a HC job somewhere.. Just hope and pray he does not go to Atlanta or Tampa bay.

Atlanta already signed Nolan as their DC and I doubt Spags is interested in anything else than a HC or DC position in the league. Oh, and staff salaries don't count towards the salary cap because they are part of the management, and teams will have to spend right up to the cap floor anyways, which I think is 95% of the cap ~ $115M. So, I think that the Bensons have enough cash to hire a DC even with Brees' signing. |
Spags Spags Spags !
