Why Spagnuolo chose Saints over the Eagles
 

Drew Brees strikes again !!!

The Saints can thank Drew Brees for Steve Spagnuolo. The Saints’ new defensive coordinator had his choice of a number of jobs. Among the other teams that either were in hot pursuit or had expressed interest were the Eagles, Falcons, Colts, Bucs and Vikings. It came down to choosing between the Eagles and Saints, and Spags picked Brees over Michael Vick. Why? An offense that scores 38.5 points per game can make a defensive coordinator look pretty smart.

He chose the Saints because he's not retarded. (No offense to any retarded people on here). But why go to the "Dream Team" when he can go to the "Real Team"?

Stability had to factor in too ... Reid was on the hot seat this year.

Eagles, Falcons, Colts, Bucs and Vikings.

So...Philadelphia, Atlanta, Indianapolis, Tampa, or Minneapolis...or New Orleans?

When you consider that the Saints are a powerhouse right now...and then you throw in the climate, po-boys, gumbo, Gulf of Mexico, oysters both raw and fried,...to name just a very few...

Also, NO gives him the best opportunity to shine as a DC and to secure another HC job at some point in the future.

PHI would've also been an interesting choice given that Reid has been skating on thin ice for a few seasons now, and if he was to be fired, they might promote from inside the organization - and then Spags might have gotten his second go-around as a HC.

Still, NO was his best choice at fame & glory.

I'd read that elswhere too. Could be some truth to it. Too many chiefs, not enough indians?

I'm really surprised if Reid can stand to have another sup-par season and keep his job, but then again it's the Eagles.
