Drew Brees DropKick
|
Look at me...see what I can do...almost!!!
|
... not very 'Dempsey-esque', lol http://www.planetsmilies.com/smilies.../happy0046.gif
|
Stick to passing the ball Drew, but glad you had fun!
|
Put some a** into it next time.
|
Sorry I missed that...
I changed the channel to watch Marmaduke on HBO soon after 3 minutes or so into the game. So sad that the fans were booing the game on the first play of the game. |

I actually though a whistle had blown because it looked like all the players let up and stopped. The game has got to end. It was embarrassing. |
is that legal?

And I second the thought that they should end the probowl. It's not football. It's painful to watch when nobody is really trying. C'mon NFL. Do the right thing. |
shoot... i would have actually watched the Pro Bowl to see that.
The last Pro Bowl I watched..... I remember it well. The Bill's OJ Simpson was the MVP. |
Yes it's legal, Flutie hit one after a Pats TD a few years ago and McMahon would bug Ditka to let him try it

I don't know how to embed, but look at the 1st play from scrimmage. Thats insulting. |
I Tuned in to watch Brees but he was already out of the game. Instead I saw a very poor performance from Cam Newton. They ended up booing him.
|
I saw a portion of the game while in a store. It was pathetic. I turned to my wife and said, "look at this. No one is even trying." Disgusting. I'm glad I didn't go to that game. I'd be pissed off too.

I bet if Drew had to it all over again he'd make that kick.
|
Wasnt the Pro Bowl something like a media thing since forever?the game was always crap,i had low expectations . Brees dropkick?its just fun cmon
|
Boo Bowl they should call it.
All I heard from the start of the game was boo's. |
... I lived in Hawaii on Oahu for a few years and never went to that game once ... can't even recall thinking about it back then ... the game has been a watered-down version, but lately it's become more like a Friday-walk-through practice ... in pads though.
|
They need to get rid of the pro bowl, do some kind of skills competition with the guys that go to Hawaii

I have one problem with the dropkick but need to preface it with my acknowledgement that I know it is absolutely ridiculous. As an atheist, it confuses even me as to why I am so superstitious about football. Okay, here we go:
Our season ended with the offense dominating one of the best defenses in the league (TWO game winning drives at the end of the SF Game) and the defense letting us down. We purged the Defense Demon by starting over with Spags. In the Pro-Bowl, we had the chance to go into the Off-Season with the last Saints image of the season being the one attached here, setting us up with all sorts of positive energy for 2012. Instead, we are going in to the off-season having to have that missed drop kick being the image that will replay over and over. It just seems like bad juju to me. Again: I know this is ridiculous. |
They need to drop-kick the Pro Bowl.
My idea, stated before, has been to play the Pro Bowl on the latest version of Madden and show it on TV. Let the two best pro Madden players duke it out. EA could create some special cutscenes or do some things to jazz it up a bit. It would be a big plug for Madden and ESPN and fun to watch. |
I saw the highlight of the drop kick. Sorry, I was embarrassed that the game was being taken so lightly. I didn't like it.

As someone who loves and will testify about what a difference Jesus
will make in your life, I must say, I dont really care about the Pro Bowl, and I think its a really bad idea to play a meaningless game with 100 zillion dollars invested in players.... Every year, I pray Drew Brees wont make the Pro Bowl. So, if they dont take it seriously, GOOD! By all means, play it like a half-speed run-thru, because I do not want my franchise destroyed in a meaningless game. And no, I'm not a hypocrite. Yes, I love preseason football, but most of the preseason is played by backups and prospects. I like preseason for the same reason other people like American Idol. Think Pierre Thomas realizing the American Dream. --also I like preseason, because its the precursor to football, and I like anticipation. The drop-kick was Globetrotter-esque. Im glad he did it, if for no other reason than the NFL considering an end to the nonsense that is the Pro Bowl. They should just have all the All-Pros presented on stage like they used to do in college. Have em walk up and shake hands with Bob Hope. Thats all. |

I think the Pro-bowl should still be in Hawaii, but make it an awards show like the ESPY's with a minute or so of highlites from each player, and a friend or family member present or accept the award. A skills challenge can be played for fun instead of the game, with some nut like Rich Eisen hosting it and clowning around with the atheletes. |

I was gonna start a thread with this, but decided to not make such an ass out of myself, so, I will put it in this thread where it belongs, so, the following is copy and pasted.
It is 6:20 A.M., and the 1st flight out of Gulfport just took off for Houston. As the jets roar in the background...I realize it is 4:20 A.M. in L.A. I am well prepared, so, without further adieu... As most know, I just have never been able to strap-on the Drew Brees rah-rah crap. I love that he plays for the team because of the production, and I have never criticized the talent...it is exceptional...I just am the type of person who has certain people rub me the wrong way and it is something I can't explain. With that in mind, I was reading this morning about the SB and I came across this article regarding Eli. I am not gonna post the article, but I did copy and paste a quote from Ernie Accorsi, the guy that was responsible for making the trade that sent Eli to NY. Here it is... "I want my quarterback to be cool, I don't want him jumping around," Accorsi said. "I came in with [Johnny] Unitas, and if you go back and watch the sudden-death touchdown (from the 1958 NFL Championship Game), you'll see he turned and just walked off the field." I know I am treading on very thin ice here, but I just felt compelled to let everyone know how I felt and relieved to find that I am not the only person on the planet who feels this way. I think it is very telling that Drew never misses an opportunity to be on a talk-show or award show...and the need to show everybody that he can drop-kick, too! It's just too much for my taste. I will now retreat for cover. |
this is America, LB. you have the right to burn the flag. you have the
right to diss drew brees. I support that right. Me and Jesus and Tim Tebow love you. |
but you are wrong, and drew brees is the greatest guy ever.
although im a big fan of archie too. |

The more I think about it, I really wouldn't mind seeing the ProBowl turned into a skills competition ... something like the old Wide World of Sports 'Superstars' competition or the World's Strongest Man kind of thing, but keep it in Hawaii for the players. Jim McKay, Chris Economaki ... I really miss Wide World of Sports.

Isn't burning the flag illegal? I can't remember the legislature concerning it, but at least in Finland it's illegal to burn the nation's flag - I mean it is only a fine, but still. The only occasion where you are allowed to (or should) burn the flag is if it accidentally touches the ground when you are taking it down, because it is supposedly tainted after that. As for the topic, I usually don't like public expressions of emotion - being Finnish ;-) - but I think it is OK for Brees to be a bit of a showman, since that is part of his job as the "face of the franchise." And usually when he appears in a talk show etc. he is also promoting some good cause like the "NFL Play 60," so I never get the sense that he is only appearing in public to promote himself or his desire to be noticed. And as for the PB, I like the idea of it being more of an award show and a recap of the season with the added skills competitions etc., because the skills comps have always been my favorite part of the whole weekend - and the only thing worth watching. With the PB being more of an award show recapping the past season, it would also allow for it to be after the SB, so that players from those last two teams standing could also once again participate in the event. |
