If Porter leaves the Saints, who will replace him?
Cornerback Tracy Porter is set to become a free agent soon. As of right now, his future with the New Orleans Saints is only a question mark. Will he leave or stay? If he does leave, who will take over his position on the defense?
Saints fans would have thought anyone asking these questions two seasons ago would be crazy. In 2009, Porter was part of a ball-hawking secondary that earned him the name, “Legend Killer”. He was responsible for making two key interceptions, one in the 2010 NFC Championship Game and one in Super Bowl XLIV, that pretty much sealed both victories for the Saints. It was certain that he would only progress from there as the next season came. Yet the 2010 and 2011 seasons didn’t yield the same results for Porter. Porter’s tackling, especially this past season, became somewhat suspect. He appeared to whiff on tackles and never seemed to be able to rack up any interceptions. With free agency starting, Porter’s future with the Saints isn’t quite set in stone. And with a new defensive coordinator in Steve Spagnuolo, it’s unclear if he will be used enough to garner the big contract he wants. If Tracy Porter leaves the New Orleans Saints, who will take his place? |
Legend Killer? seriously?
Porter is an average CB. If he does not want average money, he will be replaced by C. Rob, or perhaps an orange cone. |

IMO I don't see what the issue is. If he doesn't take what we want to pay him, peace out. P. Rob takes his place and Johnny P takes the nickle. Problem solved. |

P Rob already took his starting corner spot, porter is now a nickel corner at best, If he leaves then johnny Patrick will step up

Our new secondary coach and DC might want a new corner to tweek, I think our secondary is in pretty good shape. I just hope they teach them all how to catch the ball.

The guy working the concession stand is fast & has good hands. Maybe we could take a look at him. :-P

Porter is still a pretty good CB. A pass rush would make them all look better. But yeah, don't break the bank trying to keep him.

He made one the greatest plays in New Orleans Saints history. I would say a nickel corner.

With virtually no pass rush I think he's done a good job, Not great, but certainly not a weak link. I think Spags will want to go in another direction though. He likes bigger corners.
