Is hosting the Super Bowl a curse?
No the Saints will be the first team to play in Super Bowl to have a home game.
No more so than the Madden curse.
No, it's crappy teams playing in the hosting cities that are the curse.
No,
I think getting to the SB is such a crap shoot and hard thing to do. I think with it being in your home adds an element in the back of your mind that adds pressure to it that causes you to melt down at some point. Kind of like you almost expect to go so you don't work as hard... |
I don't know but we're about to break it!

It didnt curse the '79 Rams. Super Bowl was in Pasadena, suburb of L.A.
they lost to the Steelers. The '87 ? 49ers ?? played in Palo Alto (fairly close to SF) beat the Dolphins.... thats all I can think of. Pittsburgh, Minn, Buffalo, Denver, and Dallas account for about 19 of the first super bowls, and they never hosted it... so maybe thats part of it. Plus WE hosted --- what about 8 or 9? and we've historically sucked, so thats much of it. The only SB caliber teams I can remember the 1st 20 years that played in host cities were Miami and the L.A. Raiders... and they just happen to go the years they hosted. I remember Houston hosted once in '74 ? and the Oilers didnt have a chance. Not even astronomically. |
