Draft question
How many picks do we have, and if multiples in the same round, which round? Also, is there anyway in almighty heck that we can trade something to get a first rounder???
|
2nd round (59th overall)
3rd round (90th overall) 4th round (122nd overall) 5th round (154th overall) 6th round (166th overall) - via Redskins for Jammal Brown 6th round (167th overall) - via Dolphins for Reggie Bush 7th round (217th overall) the 1st was sent to the Patriots to draft Mark Ingram, and the 6th was sent to the Dolphins as an exchange so the Saints could move up and draft higher in round 6 with the Dolphins' pick. |
I'm not so much worried about a first but I would like a high 2 somehow someway and keep our other 2nd.

unless we are willing to move PT or a wide receiver, we don't really have any trade-value depth
we could end up with another pick if we tender a resticted FA and someone else signs them-- maybe Casillas? of course if we tag either Nicks or Colston and if they go away we would get two number 1's. Slim on Nicks and None on Colston |

If they are tagged as a "nonexclusive franchise player" there is a chance that another team hands them an offer sheet and if the Saints don't match that they would be compensated with 2 1st round draft picks, but that scenario is very unlikely to take place. |
Why not trade Bushrod for picks.
He is greatly helped out by Nicks and his vaule couldn't be higher. |

How about Charles Brown? What's his contract situation?
|
Quote:
Brown is still on his rookie contract which ends after the 2013 season - his cap hit for 2012 is $745K and for 2013 it'll be $825K. They might as well keep him around for depth, although he probably won't ever become a starter, with such a low cap hit he can at least be a depth guy until he once again gets injured. He has 0 trade value. |

Trading Harper would result in a 17 million cap hit in 2012, and we lose Harper and have to sign his replacement. Not a wise move at all. |
I'd be absolutely stunned if Harper was involved in some type of a trade deal this off-season.
I think they should hang on to PT, he is cheap, the best all around back they have and his screen plays are just killers. SP will want to hang on to four good RBs, so that the past problems with RB injuries won't come back to haunt him. |

Loomis can always sign another FA running back |
I think PT will be here with the other three backs.

The Pats would take PT in a heartbeat and they have like 5 million picks this year, I really do not want PT to go anywhere . He is the best back we have period.
