The Gamblers . . .
Here is the message that no one has touched on in the Drew drama that is unfolding roght in front of us. For the beginning of the Saints football team we have had many coaches and "so-called" premier players. But we changed them out on a regular basis but to no avail. We could not reach the summit we call the Super Bowl much less respect in the NFL. So what is different? We got a decent manager named Loomis and then we got a good coach in Payton. Both of whom were by nature gamblers. They gambled on a potentially broken QB named Brees. They more than hit the lottery. With him came a SB but better than that we got respect. Teams do not look forward to Sunday with the Saints where before they relished it because it usually meant a notch in thier W column. Brees makes players around him better than they really are. He drives them to reach thier full potential both on offense and defense. If for some reason San Diego had kept Brees or if the Dolphins had picked him up when he was available I feel certain both Loomis and Payton would have been history in New Orleans by now. Give Drew the damn money Loomis you owe your job to him. We have tasted victory and we are not ready or willing to wallow in mediocrity again. Larry said it best "Git-R-Dun" and lets keep Nicks and Colston! We are not wanting to gamble with Brees' future again.

Quit wringing your hands like a bleeding-heart liberal.
The chance of the Saints not re-signing Brees would rank 2nd behind death by meteroite. This deal will get done; as far as Nicks/Colston staying, they are going to have to decide if they want money or another Super Bowl ring. If they leave, I hope they go to a team that the Saints beat the hell out of and a Saints player after the game tells them they F'ed up by leaving! |

Allowing for the number of Earth-crossing asteroids — the kind that can hit us because their orbits around the Sun intersect ours — as well as how much damage they can do (which depends on their size), he calculated that any person’s lifetime odds of being killed by an asteroid impact are about 1 in 700,000." I don't think Brees wants to be anywhere else.
I think his stock goes down if he ends up in a cookie-cutter scheme. There is NOWHERE else he can go where he can dink-and-dunk his way to 70% completions. Peyton's offense makes all of our guys better. Colston, Evans, Nicks and all the rest are just average anywhere else they would play. And if someone else wants to overpay to prove me right then so be it. |
