Mickey Loomis responds to report he considers Brees a 'very good' QB
New Orleans Saints General Manager Mickey Loomis calls idea "ridiculous" that he doesn't consider quarterback Drew Brees a great player.
New Orleans Saints General Manager Mickey Loomis insisted Friday that he considers quarterback Drew Brees a "great player" and said the idea that he feels otherwise is "ridiculous." Loomis was responding to a report by Yahoo! Sports that suggested Loomis had been describing Brees as just "very good" to unnamed league sources. New Orleans Saints General Manager Mickey Loomis said it was ridiculous that he would downplay Drew Brees' value."I have always thought of Drew as a great player. Always," Loomis said. "Even when his shoulder was damaged I thought he was a great player. That's why we wanted him, and it's ridiculous for anyone to think otherwise." and let me weigh in on the Brees contract situation as a whole (since I've been away - I feel the need to cleanse your thoughts) The Drew Brees contract has many moving parts. He, Nicks, Vilma, Colston, Meachem, not to mention the countless other "candidates" to fill their positions (should they leave)... Gang, it's a lot to compute, digest, structure and re-structure. Let's just say Loomis is earning his money right now. DON'T get caught up in the media back n forth. This team is faced with many TOUGH decisions regarding cap space. They were built to win Superbowl(s) N O W. Parallel our front office to the Patriots (minus the draft picks), it's the same "system" and approach to signing players. The nucleus will remain intact, new players will be scouted and signed to smaller contracts, and we WILL CONTINUE TO COMPETE FOR RINGS. Any thoughts? |
