Read what Peter King thinks about the Saints now!

2. I think if any of the 22 players implicated in the Saints' bounty program ever ends up in one of the burgeoning concussion or football-as-long-term-damage lawsuits 10 years from now, I hope the judge takes one look at the suit, chuckles, and says, "Are you kidding? Get out of here.''

I'm hoping the judge says that to all former players, not just the 22 Saints.

QBREES9 03-06-2012 11:42 PM

Peter King whatever !

Crusader 03-07-2012 01:23 AM

He makes a pretty good point imho.

jeanpierre 03-07-2012 06:39 AM

King reinforces that he's a moron...

"...at least one study has made a direct link between ALS and the hard hits of football..."

What study? Name that study.

It is popularly, though unceremoniously, referred to as Lou Gehrig's disease - it is named after a Baseball Player!

How many afflicted are/were not football players?

What scientific method brought on this conclusion?

Lard @$$ - that's what they should be calling this moron...

He's as bad as that idiot ESPN had out of Philadelphia, Conlin - where do they find these idiots?!?

SapperSaint 03-07-2012 08:00 AM

Peter King, Skip Blayless and countless other ESPN "Experts" are ultimate "Bandwagonners". Screw 'em! In 10, 15, 20, even 30 years later; who is going to remember their name? You know what will be remembered????? The Saints are not one of the teams to have never won a SuperBowl. People may not remember which one they won, but they will remember the Saints won it.

So these "Experts" can go stick their heads under the water in a toliet bowl and take a deep breathe for all I care.

Rugby Saint II 03-07-2012 11:29 AM

It ain't gonna' be purty! It could be very ugly.

NOLA54 03-07-2012 12:27 PM

I didn't know Peter King is a mind reader! Since he knows that Goodell will come down hard on the Saints or is he just projecting what he would like to have happen.

Mardigras9 03-07-2012 01:07 PM

Fall guys, it's gonna hurt.

hagan714 03-07-2012 05:51 PM

he loves to create drama. he is still a bone head who rights for a sports mag that is written like peoples mag. no article can be longer than the stand time a person sits in on the toilet. if you run out of tp use the article for something useful

With all due respect, you have to have your head buried pretty far in the sand to think that Goodell isn't about to throw the book at us. Particularly when his statement specifically said the penalty "should include heavy fines, loss of draft picks and suspensions."

WhoDat!656 03-07-2012 06:53 PM

But Goodell is still going to have to temper his ruling with allowing the Saints to be competitive during his punishment.

AsylumGuido 03-07-2012 06:57 PM

I'm expecting our losing 2nd and 3rd round picks this year, at least, and the 1st next year. Payton and Loomis should get four games a piece and the max fine of $500K. The franchise gets hit with at least $500K, as well. Vilma gets a six game suspension, Fujita (I know, he's not still with us) gets four. Gregg Williams gets a lifetime ban.

The Saints get banned from prime time games for 2012.

EXACTLY. He can't just go around wreaking vengeance like Atillah the Hun...because EVERYONE including his own statement has said that Tom Benson is innocent in all this. And he CANNOT punish Tom Benson's bottom line, for something Benson is innocent of, and he CANNOT punish the fans in the stands at the Dome, for something they had no control over and are also innocent of. Whatever the punishment, it's going to have to be a lot more nuanced and careful than a lot of people right now might think.

OldMaid 03-07-2012 09:22 PM

Yes, there will be something. Goodell has to do something. We all can't say it enough that this was stupid. Thanks GW. :-( Glad you are gone. Saints got caught. Take a punishment with class. Move on.
March 25 is owner's meeting.
Guido, I do not think it will be that severe.
Goodell AND the owners will come up with something.

Cruize 03-07-2012 09:45 PM

250k for Loomis. 250k for Payton and two games. 1Mil for the organization. Vilma 75K and 2 games. 4 or 5 unnamed players 1 game each 25K in fines. No 2nd pick this year and no 1st next year. Williams 250K and out for the year.

Danno 03-07-2012 09:53 PM

$10,000 dollar fine for everyone involved, and we lose a 7th round pick.

Is a little harsh for what we did, but I'm willing to be the NFL image scapegoat.

That's the m'fer at the bottom of all this. And I think a 'Peter King' voodoo doll thread may be in order ... :hott:

The Saints get banned from prime time games for 2012.

I would like to see Gregg Williams get a lifetime ban...but I think a lifetime ban would depend upon how much the league decides to further investigate details of his time at the Redskins, Titans, etc., which I don't think they are very inclined to do AT ALL right now. They've proved their point with the Saints, and spreading this investigation to other teams and coaches is a Pandora's box they DO NOT want to open because the scandal will NEVER end if they do. I think they give Williams fines and a 1 or 1 1/2 year suspension that is juuuuust big enough to make his position in St. Louis untenable, so the Rams have no choice but to part ways with him before he ever coaches a single game or scrimmage in St. Louis. I forget his name right now but they already have another guy on their defensive staff with the Rams, who has been a DC before, so they won't be completely at a loss.

I also don't see them banning the Saints from prime time games because, again, that's punishing the innocent -- Benson -- by affecting his bottom line. The Saints have amazing ratings every time they play in prime time --one of the best draws in the whole sport -- and the league is not going to mess with that too much. The national interest to watch the Saints on TV is still there, even with the scandal -- now people will be watching the games to hear juicy details about the "bounties" and to look for dirty hits (that aren't there). The NFL will probably scale the Saints back to maybe 2-3 prime time games like a normal team, but I don't see them banishing them completely from prime time for the year -- too much money unrelated to the Saints (networks, TV ratings, etc) would be at stake. Plus I get the feeling that NBC really loves the Saints on their Sunday night schedule, and would be mad if the league took that away.

skymike 03-08-2012 09:19 AM

Theres no rule that says they have to allow us to be competitive.

I can see the hammer coming down. This is when you need to
bring out your character. We're going to be up against it. Drew
and co. need to get their heads out of the bank vault and prepare
themselves.

Euphoria 03-08-2012 09:52 AM

Banning a team from TV games is so college football.

That won't happen in the NFL. Networks have some say in which games are played on their channels.

If I was a network I'd insist Saints games will be on this year because... you have the whole bounty issue to bring up and talk about during the game. Its a story... they are going to want it.

skymike 03-08-2012 01:20 PM

that, and we will become like the bad guys in wrestling. we should have a mic come down from the superdome roof before the game, and instead
of a pre-coin toss handshake, we should start calling our next opponent out:

"I .... have no respect .... for junkyard dog... after what happened last week in Rapides Parish Coliseum... but next week... its going to be PAYBACK. Saints vs. falcons ___ (date/time) on most of these FOX
stations/ good seats available via ticketron, ticketmaster, or your saints box office) --- BE THEREEEEEE!"

We're gonna have to go all HEHATEME on people...lot of haters will be out in force when the Saints take the field this fall. It will take a big chip on the shoulder to overcome it all and prove it on the field.

We need a 'favorite wrestler' thread, similiar to the 'favorite tv show theme' thread ... I should be able to find some of the local talent from back in the days of 'Big-Time Wrestling' at the 'air-conditioned' Cobo Arena in Detroit, Michigan ... Bobo Brazil, the Sheik, Dick the Bruiser, Bulldog Don Kent, George 'the Animal' Steele ... George Steele actually was one of my old football/wrestling coaches,.

Just read this on a comments section elsewhere

Have you or a loved one been injured by the New Orleans Saints illegal bounty system? If so, you might be entitled to legal compensation. Just contact the law firm of Whiners & Lott.
