Yeah, it sounds bad, but they've acquired quite a lot of draft picks, so it isn't quite as bad as it sounds. And also they gave up 3 1st rounders and a 2nd round picks, but they received the Rams' 1st rounder, so it isn't like they gave up 3 1st round picks, more like 2.

They're desperate for a QB who can be the face of the franchise, and they see RG3 as that guy, so they decided to do what was needed to get him - can't blame that mindset regardless of what happens in the future.

I mean, if you remember last year's draft... They were looking for a QB, but none of the guys that were available for them were what they were looking for. So, rather than settling for someone, they traded down a couple of times and received picks in compensation. This year was a reversal of that strategy.

I wonder if Shanahan will require RG3 to wear a wedding dress ... just like Ricky did?

Yep, I think they acquired an obscene 12 extra draft picks over the next couple years via trade downs and the Jason Campbell trade.

They also have 40 million in cap room.

They can get real good real fast.

Trade Brees to the Cowboys for Romo, Spencer AND Ware and a draft pick!

We all know SP can make a QB look great!

LOL

Step away from the pipe. I don't want the Cowboys to become the Saints and I certainly don't want the Saints to become the Cowboys. The thought make me retch. I retch. What a nightmare.

I couldn't care less about Bress and how fat his pocket is. All I want is my Saints in the dome for the Superbowl. With that said if that means trading Bress so be it. I trust in Loomis and believe Payton is responsible for a lot of Drew's success. What worries me is they may face suspensions this year.

You appear to be downplaying Brees' talent as a QB. His combination of ability, athleticism, intelligence, desire, and leadership are tops in the league. Payton and Brees are a terrific tandem and they both deserve their share of credit.

They might go after Jackson or Colston to give RG3 some WR weapons.

I heard Manning will be visiting New Orleans next week.

They've got enough cap room to sign Vincent Jackson and Marques Colston and Carl Nicks and Dallas Clark and Mario Williams.

I guess they could, but I doubt they would do that, because they'd have no money left to field a full 53 man roster after those purchases.

But I agree with you on that Nicks could be someone they'd target to provide protection to RG3.

No, thats what they could do with the cap room they currently have, in addition to the players the currently have on their roster.

They have 40 million in cap room to add players to their current roster.

I quickly counted that they have around 20 players entering free agency from their last season's roster, so they have a lot of guys to sign to fill up their roster.
