I'm just curious as to the life of your work-a-day journalist in the sports world. I mean, when the bounty news came down did some super smart journalism/marketing guy say "Hey if we come down irrationally hard, we will see more views...nothing puts butts in seats on our website/TV channel/magazine than divisiveness, Exhibit A: Fox News."
And you have to go in and have an editor "punch up" your report of anything related to the Saints with some crazy extremist opinions? Now, Florio and King are at a point in their careers where they write what they want, but sometimes I wonder about Sando and Yasinkas and them, on the bottom of the ESPN totem pole, how much of that is coming down from the top to generate ad revenue. |

In response to the original post and article, Brees is in a hard spot here. I'm fairly certain he recognizes the need to be a part of OTA's for the success of the team. In addition to that, not working out is really his only leverage to get a long term deal at this point.
And another take on people who are upset that Brees didn't take less to keep the team together. Why can't Colston take less? Why can't Nicks take less? I think the focus is on Brees wanting market value for the best QB in the league, but it also appears that Nicks wants that and so does Colston. Why should Drew be expected to take less so that Nicks can top the deal Evans got? Shouldn't we also be mad at Nicks for not accepting a lower deal? or Colston? |
Believe half of what you see & none of what you read.

Brees has been being paid far below the average decent QB for years. |
