David Hawthorne will visit Saints this weekend
Seahawks free agent LB David Hawthorne and Broncos free agent LB Joe Mays are scheduled to visit with the Saints this weekend, a source familiar with the situation told CBSSports.com. Hawthorne had 115 total tackles with 14 starts for Seattle last season, and Mays had 75 total tackles with 12 starts in Denver last season. It's obvious the Saints are looking to beef up at LB.

Best news I've heard all off-season.
Could we finally sign the LB we've been wainting for? |
If the Seahawks can't afford him what makes us think we can? Don't get me wrong LB'er is a position of critical need.

Does Hawthorne meet with anyone tomorrow? Is there a chance he'll sign with some other team before Friday?
|
I remember when FA's wouldn't even think of visiting the Saints unless they were desperate or a cancer on another team. Without Brees that does not happen.

Great news, but would've liked seeing Woodyard's name on that list as well - heck, he could share the ride with Mays.

I live in Washington State, see plenty of Hawthorne highlights. Dude is pretty solid.

That's why I was hoping they'd get Woodyard to visit instead of Mays. |
Hawthorne had 3 INT's last year.
That's three more turnovers on our sheets. I wonder about the monies he is demanding. Maybe he'll settle for peanuts for a chance at SB glory. |

And one of those was a 77-yard pick 6 if I remember correctly. RotoWorld commented that Pete Carroll wants to get faster on the LB corps and that Hawthorne might be a casualty of that change, so I'm wondering how mobile he is if that is a legitimate claim? His 2008 pro-day results were as follows: 40 Yrd Dash: 4.69 20 Yrd Dash: 2.71 10 Yrd Dash: 1.60 Vertical Jump: 37 1/2 Broad Jump: 08'10" 20 Yrd Shuttle: 4.45 3-Cone Drill: 7.27 He was apparently hampered by a sprained knee all last season, so his numbers are even more impressing when that is factored in. Here's the pick 6: |
