possibly drafting a QB?

Just wondering what you guys think. Drew has got about 3 or 4 more strong years left, IMO. Assuming the Saints still have their 2nd round pick when the draft rolls around. would the Saints consider taking a guy like Kirk Cousins in the 2nd, I think it might be a good idea, have him sit behind Drew for 4 or 5 years, ala Aaron Rodgers.

Just looking for what the Who Dat Nation thinks.

|Mitch| 03-14-2012 09:33 PM

too soon to use a 2nd round pick on a QB, I think...

Plus we have Chase Daniel who has been sitting and learning behind Drew for a couple of years,

jcp026 03-14-2012 09:49 PM

Chase Daniel is our guy.

Rugby Saint II 03-14-2012 10:05 PM

Much too early for that. We need that 2nd round for defense.

Danno 03-14-2012 10:11 PM

If Drew refuses to sign the tag, the hell yes we need to look toward our future.

Euphoria 03-14-2012 10:38 PM

Not this year I don't see it.

lsutigerfan 03-14-2012 10:40 PM

I just don't see Chase as our future, and according to the contract the Saints gave him, I don't think they do either.

Euphoria 03-14-2012 10:45 PM

No he isn't the future.

Future back up is all but we have to many needs to tires we need to kick and not enough draft picks so I see them going on best value players like we always do and I do see a QB in our future in this draft.

JimmyB1775 03-14-2012 10:47 PM

Lets take the guy from Houston that threw for 18.31 light years in 5 years. He and Brees are very similar size/ability/intellect wise and we could get him in the 4th.

lsutigerfan 03-14-2012 10:48 PM

Casey Keenum, he can probably be had in the 4th or 5th round.

i'd like to see that happen.

TheOak 03-15-2012 07:27 AM

Chase is not our future based on age... He is 26, if Drew lasts 4 more seasons that makes Chase 30 when he becomes starting QB.... Sort of a short lived future QB..

hagan714 03-15-2012 08:03 AM

hmmm qb for development?

Brock Osweiler, QB, Arizona State - interesting and very raw and to high in the draft rd 2

my vote goes to

Jarrett Lee, LSU

Budsdrinker 03-15-2012 08:07 AM

2 more years before we have to worry about drafting Drew's successor.

I think he might go later than that. He was awful at the combine. Im thinking 6th round unless he has a good pro day...

papz 03-15-2012 08:11 AM

Undrafted.

If Chase was the guy then the would of wrapped him up a long time ago. He is not going to be the man with a 1 year deal.

When you're up against the cap, all you can do is 1 year deals with non starters.

alexonfyre 03-15-2012 09:16 AM

Watching Case Keenum play in college, I always thought he was the closest college equivalent to Drew, but then Drew did a lot better at the combine...

SapperSaint 03-15-2012 09:46 AM

I say we bring in Jarret Lee and Austin Davis (USM). Something tells me they will be UDFA. Bring them into camp and let them fight it out.

While I like Chase; he will never be anything more than a clipboard holder.

JimmyB1775 03-15-2012 01:24 PM

I could care less how he did at the combine. All I see is value out of him. He had what, like 4 or 5 insanely consistent and successful years. It just happened to be in the Nobody Conference at an equally well known school.

ChrisXVI 03-15-2012 03:14 PM

Russell Wilson in the 7th round if he's still there. He's a high-character guy and the same size as Drew and Chase. Why not take a shot on him?!

buckblaster1 03-15-2012 03:32 PM

if we are looking at qbs how bout kellen moore from boise? almost a carbon copy of brees. he will go in late rounds if hes drafted at all because of his size

lsutigerfan 03-15-2012 03:33 PM

Russell Wilson and Kellen Moore, I wouldn't mind taking a look at in the late rounds,

Moore might actually go higher than that. He had a good combine and if his pro-day (on the 22th) is up to the same par, there might be takers since he apparently impressed in the personal interviews.

At least that was the word during NFL network combine coverage.
