Better option at CB
Just random thinking, but what if we could get Aaron Ross around or near the same price as Tracy Porter, which would you prefer?
|
Use the draft (if possible) for CB depth and use the money (if any) on the LBs and the maybe the front 4.
|
My concern is are we going to even have a draft after the punishments come down? We may have to end up doing a majority of our damage in Free agency depending on what the All mighty Goodell strikes upon thee
|
I would think they would go after Bartell first if they did try to upgrade at corner. We tried to sign him away from the Rams a few years back and he's already familiar with Spag's scheme. Ross would also fit the system being from New York too... though probably more expensive.

With or without Porter we'll be fine at CB.

I just don't think the money is there this year to address CB. Of the 3 phases of our D, backfield is actually the strength (cough, cough) |
addressing the Line and/or LBers should help the DBs as well; assuming Spagnoula finds ways to get consistent pressure without blitzing 80+ percent of the time

Our CBs are average size. 5'-11" is almost perfect for a CB. The top 20 prospects at CB for the 2012 draft average 5'-10 1/2" |
Since the SB, "T-Pain" has nearly been missing for a good part of last season, playing-wise, because he hasn't been making those big plays or could I be exaggerating. Greer has been more than solid and "P-Rob" still has ways to go, despite his upside.........

Greer is one of the most underrated CB's in the NFL. Robinson led our team in INT's last season. Patrick is going to be a badass with a full offseason to prepare with the team. I'd say combine them with Torrence and another diamond in the rough CB that we find in the draft and we're set!

More like T-Go_for_the_legs_and_watch_him_run_past_you than T-Pain. |

I do not know who T-pain is, but I hope it's not a reference to Porter, who is not exactly a big hitter. Or any kind of hitter
Robinson had FOUR interceptions last year, so yes, he led us, but that's kind of like saying 'not all of you failed today's test' I'll stick with: we have some athletes back there, and hopefully we can get some pressure this year and help them out |

I guess everyone forgot how awful the pass rush was last year. Let me remind everyone the M.O of our D was to leave the DBs out to dry while sending 6-7 pass rushers and we still failed to get to the QB. You can't expect anyone to cover guys like Calvin Johnson for 5 secs man-on-man. Our DBs are the strength of the Defense, if we had an average pass rush every DB we have would go to the pro-bowl. |
Greer is one of the best coverage CBs in the league.
|
Greer is very good and very underrated by everyone but the Saints. Give the man a decent pass rush and watch the rest of the league take due notice...
