How much of a drop off do you see us having now that we have Grubbs instead of Nicks?
I do not know much about Grubbs. Do you guys see a big drop off? How do their playing styles differ? Is there anything that Grubbs does better than Nicks? I asked this question somewhere else and got flamed for it.

Don't expect to see any drop off in production. Being a little more nimble on his feet, Grubbs may be better pulling and on screens. Nicks better in pass protection and mauling. Obviously Nicks is the better player hence the largest contract ever for a guard... but Grubbs is also an elite player. It's like saying hey, we're going to cut Drew Brees and down grade to Peyton Manning(the healthy one).

I don't see any drop off either. If anything we gain because I feel Grubbs is a better run blocker than Nicks.
|
Insignificant drop off I would imagine.

I think our offense will look different, since Grubbs has a different talent set than Carl Nicks, which means that we might do even better, since all of our game tape won't help nearly as much.
|
If it weren't for the announcers stating every game that Nicks is in Tampa, most people probably couldn't tell the difference in the offense.

But your right that Grubbs will be a better run blocker - and I've understood that Nicks had mistakes at times in the passing effort... |
grubbs has been to pro bowlS while playing with joe flacco. Brees is going to make him look better than ever. on the other hand, nicks is going to be playing with freeman, he'll probably look worse than he ever has. but at lease nicks will get his wish and finally get to run block

Grubbs:
He has allowed 2½ sacks or less in four of his five NFL seasons, according to STATS LLC. Moreover, he never has been penalized more than three times in any season, and he never has been penalized more than once in any regular-season game. He never has been penalized, period, in the postseason. |
