Broncos 'working hard' to re-sign Bunkley
The New Orleans Saints hosted defensive tackle Brodrick Bunkley on a free agent visit over the weekend, but the Broncos don’t want to lose him.
According to Lindsay Jones of the Denver Post, the Broncos are “working hard” to get Bunkley re-signed. Bunkley doesn’t provide much pass rush, but he is an effective run stopper in Denver’s 4-3. He’s the top defensive tackle left on the free agent market. Broncos |

I thought that they were interested in re-signing him, but had put all other FA negotiations on hold until they got a confirmation on the Manning situation.
They have the cap and he had a good season playing for them, so it seems that the Saints might be out of position now - if they are even actually interested in signing him. |
Anyone else get that sinking feeling that we aren't gonna sign Bunkley or Lofton or Hawthorne?

I've had that feeling since I found out we were only 3 million under the cap, with Brees still to go...

I knew it. Dam

Chamberlain looks to be the one that the Saints might be able to afford, and with Spags' relationship with him he looks like someone they might bring in if all else fails.
Now, with the LB market having been opened, the more longer it takes for these guys to sign somewhere, the more likely it will become that the Saints might be able to get one of them to agree to a low-end contract. The problem with Lofton and Bunkley is that Lofton supposedly has received some type of a contract offer from the Bucs (before he visited with the Saints) and now with the Broncos going after Bunkley with all the cap they still have - the Saints might not be in a position to lure one or both of them to accept a low-end contract with them. |
Looking at the bright side, if we do sign Brees longterm we probably can't afford Shanle.
