Question for the Forum
What if Parcells is hired as interim HC and wants to trade a RB or WR for a DE/DT/LB?
Would Benson/Loomis/Payton make sure he understands that he is taking over the Saints as-is, unless a player goes on IR, etc? |
Good question. Parcells is originally a defensive-minded coach, so he would concentrate more on the defensive side of the ball, naturally, rather than the offensive side. And, not only that, he pretty much puts his assistants on lockdown....

Interesting question. If Parcells comes on board, theoretically it could get pretty weird during the period when Loomis and Vitt are suspended in the first part of the year, before the trade deadline. Although I would have to assume that someone else in the Saints front office (Khai Harley, Ryan Pace and Rick Reiprish) will be officially stepping up for Loomis as "acting GM" for those weeks, and would have the final green-light say in any kind of crazy decision like that. And I have to assume they will probably be told what to do in that scenario beforehand, by Loomis, before he leaves. It's a long way from now, I'm sure he will give them all kinds of guidelines and advice and have things set up to run smoothly until he gets back.

Who's to say that isn't a good idea...
|
Payton learned from Parcell's, and trusts him obviously... He knows he won't make any decisions to hurt the team.... I trust him, if Sean does.
|
To think all lines of communication are cutoff is naive. We live in an NFL where multi million dollar contracts are done within 15 minutes of FA with no communication beforehand.
|
I would definitely value his input, but those decisions shouldn't and wouldn't be his to make.
|
Only the GM is gonna cut/trade a player.
Parcells would be the head coach, not the GM. |
parcells isnt coming anyway...end thread/

Thats good news.
