Payton Appeals
 

Sean Payton will appeal his suspension today, according to a league source.

The coach is also expected to seek guidance on amount of time he will have to prepare his appeal, and attempt to obtain the full reports from NFL Security regarding the bounty evidence against him.

Payton had until April 2 to appeal. Commissioner Roger Goodell made it clear in remarks to the media the appeals process will be expedited and sources said its unlikely to last more than a week or so.

Yeah, I agree- can't hurt and it does buy us a little more time- I doubt anything will change, but it never hurts to try.

This does no good, we all know this. He's appealing to the d*** who put the suspension in place. Just b.s. all the way around, and yes it sucks for us. Lets just move on from this crap.

No way. With all the heat (yes, thats valid) that the fanbase and some of the media is creating against him, BUT ALSO the fact that Parcells is in the mix now showing more promise than Goodell thought we could muster... I bet he's likely to chop his suspension in half or more JUST SO we don't hire an interim and we let Carmichael do it or something. That way he wins on both sides. With the fans (even though we all will still hate him with the fire of a thousand suns) and with the hope that our season will be ruined or greatly affected at least by leaving us "leaderless" for a period of 6-10 weeks.

As others have said, this buys us more time and nothing else....

I completely agree with this even though nothing will change. I feel this way (more or less) for two reasons:

1) EFF you Goodell.
2) Oh yeah, EFF you Goodell.

Time for what? He did know about this right? And with all the press putting in their crap about this. I think this might make it harder. I don't know, just sick to my stomach about this whole damn thing. Lets just move on from here..
Let Carmichael run the offense, spags on the D. Don't bring in the tuna, cause all the hype. Or do and let him just sit back and handle the discipline side of the football.


I'm just sick of hearing about it, seeing it on every web site, tv...This is worse than those soap operas.

So it just buys us time, OK... I'm cool with that hold this crap off like the star caps issue for a few years. Tie it up with some legal crap, until roger leaves the NFL.

He'll have a bit more time to come together with the other guys on the team to make the contingency plans for the coming season.

And, he'll be able to finally see all of the evidence against him, which is weird that he hasn't already, but as it was stated - he still wants to view some evidence that he hasn't seen.

And, finally, he isn't going down without a fight.

Players may indeed be vilified, his suspension reduced.

Maybe Goodell's plan all along, was to over turn the suspension and reduce it to 8 games to keep the our fan base happy?

I thought about that also hitta.

We would have been pissed off at an 8 game suspension to start with, but now if he reduces it from 16 to 8 most fans are gonna say fine, I can live with that.

Like everyone said can't hurt and with all the evidence coming out that the NFL has know that betting and bounties has occurred for year and they've looked the other way won't help their case either.

Maybe on Sunday Goodell will hold a news conference and say


"April fools"

This is just a pipe dream, but how about Payton cutting a deal with Goodell. Something like leave the players alone and I will go away for the year. Heck, wouldn't hurt to try that approach. Yeah, we all know that ain't gonna happen, the damn NFL is out for blood on this one...

As much as he can get.

I think he wants more clarity of what the NFL expects of him during his ban and, more importantly, where's the evidence?
