that said, for me, I want Parcells... any other interview is pure tokenism.

The SAINTS better start playing by the rules.

Two observations:

1. show me what part of the Rooney Rule says anything about interim head coaches being hired while the actual head coach is serving a suspension and there is every indication he's coming back after the suspension is over.

2. the "rules" are being enacted by Goddell as we go along, and interpreted by Goddell in a very non-uniform manner.

Violating the rule and paying the fine is how "part" of the rule works ;-)

Searching for a new coach yes the Rooney Rule should apply but a coach serving a suspension no, you holding it down until the suspension is no more. I too want Parcells. How can you play by the rules when the person enforcing the rules does not understand the rules himself or know from one minute to the next how he wants to enforce them.

He's a crappy analyst or announcer or coaching adviser or what ever he's supposed to be. He needs to just go away.

He actually does a lot for youth football players and rookies coming into the league. Kinda nice that he shares such blunt, insightful stories to help the kids understand.

The Saints should hire Parcells to dry the footballs with a towel during OTAs, or as water boy, then "promote him from within." That way it's not a Rooney Rule violation and no need for a minority interview. Then watch the steam emerge from Goodell's ears.
