Cost To Move Up To 12 A Mere Third Rounder!

Check this out!

Jets looking to move down...While their cross-town rivals the Giants have made some headlines in recent weeks regarding a possible move up to the #1 pick at this year's draft, the Jets, who have the 12th pick overall, have quietly let it be known that they would be willing to drop down several spots in exchange for a 3rd round pick. Indeed, the Jets have indicated they already have a conditional trade in place with an unidentified team to swap #1 picks in the unlikely scenario that USC WR Mike Williams is still on the board when the Jets opening round selection comes up. The Jets are reportedly interested in selecting either of Miami LBs Jon Vilma or D.J. Williams with their opening round pick and feel they will have a shot at one, or both, if they were to drop down several spots.

If that's the case, I'm sure the Saints will be interested! They could get their guy (if it's Robinson, or less likely Hall) and still have their two 2nd round picks!

So who\'s the unidentified team? My bet would be San Fran, although Tampa and Denver could both use WR\'s.

I dont care where we pick...as long as we come out of the draft with either Robinson, Vilma, or DJ Williams. I may have a hard time warming up to anyone else. But no one cares about how i feel.

My feelings are overrated.

i really don\'t think the Saints need to give up another pick... we need that 3rd rd. pick to get a WR or another CB or LB

SF are in talks with Philly about trading DOWN.

Tampa has also said that they want to trade down. And even-tho everyone else thinks they need WR\'s, I think Chucky likes what he has. Same deal at RB...the rest of the world sees that they don\'t have crap, but he thinks he has good backs.

And Denver? Not likely. They already traded up and supposedly they are targeting Dansby.

My money says the team they are talking with is Philly. If they get the trade with SF, a good source said they would try to trade up even farther for a top flight CB.

I don\'t think that the Saints need to move up. If they do and the make a smart pick (which is iffy) I wouldn\'t be unhappy. Still, they can grab a quality ILB, CB, and WR in the first two rounds with where they are picking. In the 3rd, I\'d like to see another defensive player and a FB in the 6th.

I don\'t know who keeps posting this crap about Dever and Dansby, but if they draft an OLB they have to take Williams.

Not if Williams is already off the board.

I dont think Denver traded up to get a LB at all. I think they tried to help make sure they get a RB. Kevin Jones or Steven Jackson. And at the 17th pick, i am sure that Williams or Vilma would be there instead of Dansby. Denver could have gotten Dansby at 24. No need to move up to get him.

i think dansby may last til the 2nd... just depends. but i agree with the stephen jackson pick. he\'s not portis, but he\'ll certainly help ease the pain of that departure.

Denver could take any RB they wanted and turn him into a top 5 RB in the league - they will not take a RB in round 1. I don\'t even know if they will take one in round 2. They already have Anderson, Griffin & Hearst on the team and they can make any one of them 1500yd RB this season. Hell, Anderson already was a 1,500yd RB just a few short years ago.

Thats like the 8th time you agreed with me today ChRxis...Thanks for being on the bandwagon...and if I didnt have to work tonight, i could convince you about Dunta Robinson too...But i gotta go so you can keep believing that he didnt make plays this year. HE DID!!!
Shawntae Spencer=Workout warrior
Dunta Robinson=Stud Cornerback prospect
Boogro=Good lookin boy
Spanky86604=Bad @$$ lacrosse player...he also plays football but thats not what he\'s about

I know San Fran is in talks with teams about trading down, but when you have one need that stands out so much, like they do at WR, and you have a chance to get an ELITE prospect at that position, you take it.

If all it will take is a third rounder to get Mike Williams, San Fran takes it in a heartbeat.

Why would you move him to TE? He\'s a huge mis-match against a CB.

like jimbone has said before, when and where the jets pick will determine what the Saints do.

I posted it first, with a link to the sporting news, because it was on the front page of their football page a few days ago.

How many times do we have to tell people this before they listen?

Yeah, 4.5 speed sure is slow. Speed didn\'t seem to hurt Rice, or Owens, or dozens of other guys. If you have the talent, you don\'t need to run a 4.4 to be a big time player in the NFL.

lets try 4.6 or 4.7. he got a 4.5 on the fastest surface he could with a tailwind too. the way you actin youd think williams last name was vilma.

rage has a point... rice ran like 4.6 or so, not much faster, and all he did was become the greatest player to ever play football, or at least the best at his position. that forty time doesn\'t measure him as a player, it only measures his speed. he has many intangables, that i think he should have stayed in school to work on, but that\'s neither here nor there

JimBone 04-18-2004 10:00 PM

Mike Williams will make a phenominal receiver...a move to tight end would be ridiculous. Speed is not the make or break for any receiver. He does everything else well and will be just fine at receiver. You find a 5\'10 180 lb corner that can tackle him in the open field with any kind of regularity.
