The team has asked RB Deuce McAllister to shed 10 to 15 pounds. The club doesn't have a problem with his work habits. Rather, the staff thinks the lighter weight will reduce the wear on McAllister's legs and add a step to his breakaway speed. . . .
Reserve CB Keyuo Craver didn't endear himself to the staff by reporting to offseason conditioning 20 pounds overweight. Craver already was on the bubble to win a roster spot. . . . LB Darrin Smith still has a place on the team in a reserve role if he wants it. Smith has lost a step and isn't as physical as he once was, but he's still valuable in passing situations because of his intelligence and coverage ability. STOCK RISING OL Jon Stinchcomb was a disappointment as a rookie, but the coaches remain confident in his ability. He has been moved to left tackle, where he'll play exclusively after also playing guard last season. Stinchcomb has increased his strength and muscle. TE Zach Hilton has the size, speed and athletic ability to eventually blossom into a starter. He has good leaping ability and hands but needs to add weight and strength. His development is important because TE Walter Rasby signed with the Redskins. It could be a make-or-break season for LB James Allen. The club plans to expand his role and see whether he can make an impact. Allen will platoon with Sedrick Hodge; Allen will play on running downs and Hodge on passing downs. http://www.foxsports.com/content/view?contentId=2331392 |
