I've been wanting the Saints to cut Will Smith since they got back from San Fran, it sucks that Vilma is gone for the season but if that's what it costs to get over this BS then so be it. It frees up money to get Drew's contract done and maybe now these young guys that Smith has been holding down can finally shine

Good job to D Smith & NFLPA for limiting the suspensions. Was afraid of the "players embraced it". But I think the NFLPA argument could have been if you don't embrace what the D cord says you get cut.

I think Shanle needs to stick around, from what I hear he is very much so liked on the team and can take over the leadership role...

Fujita has a pretty good shot at an appeal, IMO, since their "evidence" against him was basically just parroting back his quote from that interview that he did, right after the story broke. The other ones strike me as guys they were really gunning for.

To be honest, I think out of all the people punished so far, GW and Vilma are guilty as sin, the rest are collateral damage. The punishment of SP is absurd and even Joe Vitt is somewhat questionable in its severity.
It sucks Will Smith and Scott Fujita can dragged into the player punishments somehow as well. I think the Saints felt the same way though, hence firing GW and getting 2 new ILBs in Free Agency. Given the preparation the team should be fine...and if anyone says Scott Shanle should step up and lead the defense, I will internet-find you and internet-slap you in the face.
