Packers, not Saints, raised Kurt Warner’s ire in 2009 playoffs
The Saints may have put a bounty on Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner during the playoffs after the 2009 season, but Warner says it was the other playoff game he played that year — against the Packers — when he thought the opposing team was taking shots at his head.
Warner said on the Dan Patrick Show that in that year’s wild card playoff win over Green Bay, he felt like Packers players were intentionally trying to hit him high. It was actually the Packers who were complaining after that game that the officials missed calls on illegal hits to Aaron Rodgers, but Warner says the Packers were hitting him illegally, too. But in the next week’s divisional loss to New Orleans, Warner didn’t think the Saints did anything beyond what’s normal. “I played in a lot of games where they were really trying to take me out,” Warner said. “When I went back and looked at that game [against the Saints] I don’t ever remember thinking it was anything more than a tough playoff game. I don’t remember anything that was beyond the whistle. Even the big hit was legal.” The Saints did hit Warner, and hit him hard, in beating the Cardinals that week, then they pounded Brett Favre the following week on their way to the Super Bowl. But Warner never felt he was taking unnecessary shots to the head from the Saints. Packers, not Saints, raised Kurt Warner |
......and all you hear from those who were mega-critical of us is: crickets!!!!!

Just helps show how much BS this whole thing is and was
|
Well yeah, but this is just Kurts word against....oh...wait...

Go away Warner! Nobody forced him to become a blocker against 300lb players coming at full speed. Let's explore that for a minute...a stupid act of desperation up against superior physical strength and an uncommon desire to win the game. I wish he would stop coming out and saying it was a legal hit. We already know that from the moment of impact. Start telling reporters you made an awful decision, so awful in fact, he wish he would have never even attempted to block.

What I find funny in all this is that the NFL has yet to talk to Warner or Farve, brilliant move Goddell brilliant. I'm no lawyer but wouldn't it be a good idea to talk to the players that you think the Saints had targeted?

He was trying to tackle the Saints defender that intercepted his pass. A QB trying to make a tackle is like an old lady in a bar fight!! |

I respect Warner, as a person first, and 2nd as player but stop coming out and saying it was a legal hit. That is a fact and will remain so. Focus on why the hit happened. He threw the pick and then tried to get in the mix against superior size and strength. Nothing good can come out of that situation. So Bobby is suppose to gently nudge him out of the way when he is trained to take the QB down with authority. That is not going to happen on any team, bounty or no bounty. |

I'm fine with that.

Does anyone else remember that, when Warner came back in, two or three Saints had a chance to really level him again but chose to pull up and even though contact was made, tried to hold him upright. If you can't remember and have the game and you should (shame on you if you don't), watch it and see...yeah, really looks like a bounty to me!

He's not contributing anything of value to the discussion. In fact, it's making the public perception of boutygate worse because everytime he goes on three things are mentioned; the hit, the Saints, and bounties. I've had several fans from other teams tell me..yeah but the hit on Warner, that's what got the Saints in trouble. I would think the same thing if I was watching Warner being intervied with the sound turned low or off. Is he doing these spots for free? That what I want to know. |

I've heard Kurt on NFL radio several times and there isn't one single appearance that I didn't agree with him for the most part on every single queation he was asked.
This world needs more Kurt Warners. |

Love the guy! It shouldn't (because they are dumb-asses), but it irritates the hell out of me when I hear a talking head refer to him as a "borderline hof player"! If Kurt Warner isn't a first ballot hof player, who is? |

Warner's stats are worthy. Warner's character (as far as we know) is impeccable. His story; cut by the Rams, Iowa Barnstormers, alone is legendary. He and Drew are the most consistently accurate QBs that I have ever seen. |
I like Kurt Warner, as I have stated as a person and player but this is my issue:
His opinion, even if he did believe it was an illegal hit, has no bearing on what is in question which is a bounty program. It was a legal hit and nothing he can say or do will ever change that. Then he believes the Packers were tageting him, ok, they said the same thing, his team was targeting Rogers. Again, another dead end topic with nothing to substantiate either claim. He's brought on these shows to shed light on the subject but presents no useful information. Either you know something or you don't. If you don't then what's the point other than an ambulance chasing side show. |
