Don't play the Hall of Fame Game
Here's one way to show solidarity. Show up at the Hall of Fame Game dressed but refuse to take the field. I don't know of any law that say we have to play football. Strike for that game. I think that anybody can strike if they don't like the work conditions. That would drive God-hell nuts.:handguns:
EDIT: We could say that we don't think that the game is safe and we're concerned about safety. After the game we can say we rethought the issue and will play again. |
Have to disagree -- I think it'd be even better to just show up and play insane lights out football, buzzer to buzzer, balls-to-the-wall intensity, and don't let up THE ENTIRE TIME. On national TV. Eff the preseason etiquette. No taking a knee. No handing the ball off in the 4th. No phone calls before the game agreeing not to blitz too hard. I seem to remember during the Patriots Spygate year there were quite a few ridiculously over-the-top scores, like 52-7 and 49-14 type blowout whippings. If anything it should be the Cardinals who dress, and then refuse to take the field, citing safety reasons.
Then after the game, which has a ridonkulous lopsided 62-10 type score, coach Vitt and Carmichael stand in front of the cameras and say "Well, we only just executed the kind of game plan that Coach Payton would have wanted us to execute, and we're giving the game ball to our defensive captain Jonathan Vilma, who couldn't be here with us today." I guarantee you that would make STEAM come out of Goodell's ears. |
I also disagree, it seems kind of passive-aggressive. Tough though it may be, our team should show class, put the thing behind them and be the bigger person. No need to stoop to Goodell's level.
|
Aw......come on now. What if we only fielded the offense and leave the defense on the side lines? We could still outplay them and prove we don't need a bounty.
|
shoot yeah... and blitz their azz, like theyre the Falcons in Game 10.
|
Id love to see us put practice squad in, and hike the ball and do nothing. Hike and sit on it. Defense also do nothing. Hike and walk. Let them score. Shows class and sends a message.
|
Wanna get people on our side? Play the game as usual.
Wanna make an ass out of ourselves and have people turn on us? Do the above. Stay classy. The attending fans deserve more than us showing our ass because we're p[issed at Goodell. The rookies trying to make the team don't need this statement crap either. The coaches trying to prepare for a season without their coach don't need this crap either. I'd be extremely disappointed if we did some childish crap like this. Its obvious to most fans of the game who the ******* here is, lets not confuse the issue. |

So lets go beat the hell out of everyone this year. Starting right in Ohio |
Forget not playing or striking or whatever; I want to see the Saints drop 40+ on everyone starting with game #1... Let them complain about bounties then, lol
|
Do we really want to give the fans of the rest of the league more reason to bad mouth us??
|
The fans on the other teams are gonna bad mouth us anyway....just sayin!

Definitely play the game, because they need all the extra evaluation material they can get on some of these players and the schemes used, and more than that, I wanna watch that game for once.
|
On one hand; I would like for the Saints to come out of the tunnel butt naked and go to mid field with a sign that says, "HEY Mr. Goodell...." and all the Saints flipping him off. (But I hold grudges)
On the other hand; I want them to whip the dog mess out of everybody we play this year. Like SaintBro said, I want stupid crazy scores like, 88-3, 70-0, 64-7. No easing up off the gas pedal. Make teams KNOW how good we are! I want Sports Center to get tired of talking about us! I want the 72 Dolphins to bring our players champaigne and for "Mercury" Morris to be the person who delivers it! That would be my pregame speech, I guess. |

I agree Rugby. throughout the history of injustice in America... the only way change was enacted was when extreme measures were taken. From the Revolutionary War to the Civil rights movement. But, that was a long time ago... America is full of wussies now. We buy cell phones and Ipads and pills that will help us lose weight. But I get it... we want to make life easier. Blend in. Status Quo. Eventually we will all go with the flow, and believe in what ESPN spits at us things will be back to normal again. Yet, In five, ten fifteen years everyone will still call the Saints cheaters (like we still do the Pats) and though we will hopefully have another Super Bowl title... we will have done nothing about it. Citing... class

Our respect is gone, there is none, hope you understand that. This team is scum in the eyes of 27 teams and their fans, that haven't admitted something. I would be more than happy to show you what they think of us. You will be living with 20 years of bountygate unless someone does something. Like the Pats. Our team will always be cheats , liars, and it won't matter later. Personally I always thought the definition of childish was someones ability NOT to grow up, and see the world for what is was. If you want to live like a mole thats fine, just don't ask us to. Burring your head in the sand solves nothing. Ask the Patriots how well that worked out for them. If we have a legitimate reason to fight we should, by any means at our disposal. Any Quote:

I tell you what I would love to see. I would love to see someone pop the crap out of one of our opponents, and then have someone like RH walk over to him in front of everybody and pull a Benjamin out of his pants and hand it to the guy. Now that would be funny.
|
IDK, I think I'd like to see you guys play the game, and in those infamous words of Martez Wilson that I so often see in FinSaint's signature tag, "don't be thinking at all, just go out there and play your balls out" ... of course, if the coaching staff thinks it's best to treat it as an additional pre-season game in order to evaluate talent & prepare for the regular season, I'm Ok with that also.

The larger the fan base, the larger the revenue generation, the bigger impact to the NFL's bottom line. That's the ugly, unpopular truth. Deny it, ignore it, what ever.... It will not change that.... I am going to see if i can find something on the web that ranks teams in order of revenue generation. |
Found it as of 2011: Now in your head think about all the teams that get air time either radio, news, commentary etc when you go through this list.

We'll just agree to disagree but if anything this offseason has driven that spike of either your with us or against us a lot deeper in me ....
For some strange reason the Saints tend to play better when they are underdogs and none of the media puppets talk about them, I just can't wait for the season to start |
