Saints would like to sign another QB
According to Jeff Duncan, via Twitter...
Saints assistant head coach Joe Vitt said the they would likely sign another QB before the start of OTAs. He said Brian Brohm was a possibility, who worked out for the team this offseason alongside WR Randy Moss. I don't see a downside. |
I'm guessing they want a camp arm?
I'd love to see them snatch Greg McElroy from the Jets since they signed Tebow. |

I like McElroy. You may be on to something there.. |

He started off looking like a lost rookie, but then came on strong as hell towards the end. Didn't he set a preseason record for the most passes thrown by a QB in a preseason game? He threw about 40 passes in one half. |
Quote:
From wiki: In his first preseason game with the Jets, McElroy threw 23 completions in 39 attempts for a total of 208 yards and completed one touchdown pass. The NFL records on wiki don't show preseason, so not sure entirely.. List of National Football League records (individual) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia |
Did he say why he wanted to sign another quarterback?
|
Canfield sure can't cut it... so we need a third arm for sure.
|
Can Brees throw left-handed?
That would get him $23million per year easy... |

What happen to my boy Pat Witt ?

Wonder why we didn't try for Kellen Moore as he was a UFA after the draft.
Would have been worth a look. |

Maybe too expensive, since there were quite a few teams interested in his services? |
i always like Kellen Moore. money i am sure.
Dennis Dixon might be a good pick up. he is a solid dual threat qb like newton is in carolina. |

he only signed with Pitt last year bc of the lockout/strike/whatever Pitt has the ageless twins Leftwich and Batch, so they must not think a lot of DD |

Wouldn't surprise me if he could complete a screen or check down lefty over the top. |

Well, except that SP calls like 80% running plays when Daniel is in as opposed to like 30% when Brees is in - case and point the 4th quarter of the Colts game last season. |

Yes, I understood that, but I was referring to the part where you wrote: "The Sean Payton offense doesn't change its style or miss a beat when you swap out a player, and that includes Drew as well." My point was that that is not what we've seen happen in the past when Daniel has taken the field to replace Brees. Naturally, for example the Colts game, the game was in a situation where they didn't need to push forward as aggressively because of the lead they had, and therefore, it was logical for SP to call more running plays than otherwise. But to say that they could replace Brees with Daniel in a meaningful situation and not "miss a beat" is a bit of an exaggeration in my opinion... of course things could be different under PC's control, but I still doubt it. |
