Some 'Bountgate' Saints still fighting mad: Railroaded by NFL?

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I cannot wrap my head around this single fact: If the NFL knew about Vilma offering 10k to "knock out" Kurt Warner and Favre, why would they wait 2.5 years to punish Vilma?? It DOES NOT MAKE ANY SENSE WHATSOEVER!!!!!...

the Director of the Vermont School of Law, Michael McCann, spoke specifically about this. If the NFL had critical information early on and allowed it to continue they are going to get waylaid with more lawsuits.

McCann however is leaning towards Goodell being able to avoid Vilma's suit but that depends on how things are interpreted in the CBA as for what Vilma can and can't do. Right now it's a gray area. It really could go either way.

Agreed, but this is where I completely disagree with McCann. The Case specifically names Vilma vs. Goodell, in a personal liability lawsuit.

The case gives the court personal jurisdiction over Goodell. The case names Goodell as an individual person, it does not mention the NFL, therefore the CBA is not in play.

For the NFL to enter the case, Goodell must prove he made decisions based on what his employer (the NFL) instructed him to do... but Goodell IS THE AUTHORITY for the NFL, therefore he IS personally responsible.
