Some 'Bountgate' Saints still fighting mad: Railroaded by NFL?
1 Attachment(s)
Players say they have seen the discipline letters from the NFL to the Saints' Sean Payton, Gregg Williams, Joe Vitt and Mickey Loomis. They claim those letters don't simply state the allegations and the imposed punishment. They claim the letters tell the four men, in general terms, that if they stay mostly quiet, the league will let them back into the sport after a certain number of games. (The NFL denied this, but wouldn't address other claims by Saints players.)

The whole thing is a sad farce. The NFLs angle is transparent. It's a friggin joke, and Saintfan is an angry young (okay not so young) man...

It would have been nice if some of these "writers" did their homework from the start. It's unfortunate for the Saints organization and us fans because the only people reading these articles are Saints fans. Fans from others teams and the mainstream media chopped us down and moved on assuming everything they heard 2 months ago was true. While its nice to see articles questioning Goodell, it frustrates me knowing its not getting anywhere near the publicity the story got 2 months ago.

Report: Saints players believe they’re being “railroaded”
As the bounty case continues to bounce back and forth between simmer and full boil, a strong undercurrent of discontent continues to linger among the ranks of the men who still play for the Saints organization.
According to Mike Freeman of CBSSports.com, multiple unnamed members of the team privately have complained about the situation. “Everyone in the bounty case is being railroaded,” one unnamed Saints player told Freeman. “I can’t believe this is happening.” Report: Saints players believe they |

I cannot wrap my head around this single fact:
If the NFL knew about Vilma offering 10k to "knock out" Kurt Warner and Favre, why would they wait 2.5 years to punish Vilma?? It DOES NOT MAKE ANY SENSE WHATSOEVER!!!!! |
Commish overstepped this time. He must have a concussion.

McCann however is leaning towards Goodell being able to avoid Vilma's suit but that depends on how things are interpreted in the CBA as for what Vilma can and can't do. Right now it's a gray area. It really could go either way. |

The case gives the court personal jurisdiction over Goodell. The case names Goodell as an individual person, it does not mention the NFL, therefore the CBA is not in play. For the NFL to enter the case, Goodell must prove he made decisions based on what his employer (the NFL) instructed him to do... but Goodell IS THE AUTHORITY for the NFL, therefore he IS personally responsible. |

I'm with you Halo, that's why it's going to be interesting to see how RG responds. We are going to get a clearer picture of how the NFL hierarchy works in these matters. Does RG call the shots and everyone else is just yes men, or, does he present it to a board. How much power does he actually have. I know he has a lot but what is the role of the owners in all this is what I'd like to know. I'm sure the owners are not just turning on ESPN and saying there's our boy.

Some one is getting caught with his hand in the cookie jar..........

hate to say it but every thing is riding on vilma

Just want to commend all you Saints fans. We asked questions, before making a judgment. It's probably because we bleed black and gold, but it's prudent none the less. This is gone blow up in the face of the league and we will be rewarded. You guys rock

Here is another monkey wrench to throw into the mix.
Ok, if Roger knew two years ago the Saints were doing this; and did nothing about it back then. Doesn't that make Roger and the NFL resposible for players who recieved concussions during those two years? In a "scumbag" lawyers eyes, doesn't that make you foam at the mouth to go out and find players who got a concussion while playing the Saints. |

My 666th post appears in a thread exposing a 2.5 year lapse of judgement by Their Satanic Majesties Request, upon which my favorite tune is She's A Rainbow, which was featured in a commercial for the Apple iMac G3, the G3 being a common reference to Germany, France & the UK - the three most influential nations in the EU, with the UK being the birthplace of the Rolling Stones, whose 1967 release Their Satanic Majesties Request featured the tune She's A Rainbow, and so on ...
