US Congressman Cedric Richmond Blasts Colin Cowherd
Today, Louisiana Congressman Cedric Richmond issued a statement in reaction to ESPN radio host Colin Cowherd's recent offensive on-air remarks claiming New Orleans is a "default destination for every major sporting event".
"I am extremely disappointed in Colin Cowherd and I resent his recent attack on the city of New Orleans," says Richmond's statement. "To tag New Orleans as the new "default destination" is highly offensive, especially when there are hundreds of world-class hotels right in New Orleans that opened their doors to over 8 million visitors just last year alone. "As a New Orleans native, I am appalled that Mr. Cowherd would call out this city, its residents, and our facilities. If these accusations were valid, the NFL and NBA would not have such a high vote of confidence in our great city nor would they host the most significant events of their game seasons right here, in New Orleans. This year New Orleans successfully hosted the Sugar Bowl, Final Four, and the BCS National Championship not to mention our world famous Mardi Gras and Jazz Festival. Comments like his are uninformed, inaccurate, and unwelcomed." LINK |
Seriously, so Vilma calls out the NFL for basically lying. The NFL, to date, has ZERO credible response other than "the evidence will be revealed" SOMEDAY.
If the NFL has SO MUCH EVIDENCE, then why hide it, especially in the face of multi-million dollar lawsuits? That said, why is the City of New Orleans a target for ESPN and this a-hole to basically TRASH the entire city and its industries? We support this team, we buy the tickers, ESPN makes gobs from audience revenue from the most watched team, the Saints; from BCS coverage (in New Orleans), from NCAA Tournament coverage (in New Orleans).... etc. This guy Cowhart is a coward who hides behind a mic and his words were CLASSLESS! |

Halo, if you read his bio this is what he does, he's been doing it since his first gig. He'll hit a beehive with a shotgun from inside a car and then roll up the window.
|
This is what happens when children grow up who have seen their parents go through 5 divorces like himself. They take their frustration out on beautiful relationships like the SD and bigtime sports venues.
|
I think I read once that his crowning achievement in life was lighting a bag of dog pooh on the doorstep of his grandmother's house...
|
He's a douchebag, typical of the 4-letter network who supplies his lousy platform.
|
That dude just like to hear himself talk.

Never trust a white man driving a black van... he's just savin' all his voodoo for you
-Clutch Not sure if it applies to anything here really, I've just wanted to quote those lyrics for a couple years now.:p |
I work with a yellow man who drives a white van ... can he be trusted?

This is what this piece of garbage wants, he says outlandish things so people will talk about him, I really wish people would catch on and quit listening to his drivel so they would fire him

I didn't hear what Cowherd said and only saw the quote in the article. What is offensive about saying the New Orleans is the default destination for major sporting events? At least from the article, there's nothing negative about New Orleans or Louisiana.
|
He has been one of the most outspoken d'bags on espn, pretty much bashing New Orleans everytime he opens his big fat yap.... He would be better served to be on E channel, although, espn is pretty close to the same type of reporting these days.

Colin Cowherd Classless New Orleans rant on the Herd

His show sucks too. I can't believe it's still on, but the hot chick that knows sports is the only thing that's saving it.

He called NO the most dangerous, sleazy city in the country and was questioning why NO is the "default destination." not sure why the congressman would pick out the destination phrase, but there was a reason he was disbarred for 6 months.

It wasn't the default destination comment that was offensive. I heard the rant, and can see where it could be confusing if you didn't actually hear it. He basically said the crime is horrible, nowhere besides here and detroit will the locals tell you not to go down a particular street (which is true if you ask me). He did bash the airport, said the weather wasn't so good, and there weren't all that many good hotels, which is nuts. Bash me for saying this, but it didn't really bother me THAT much. Accept him for who he is...a shock jock. Like someone else here mentioned, he likes to stir things up. I'm a local new orleanian, and I think the locals here are sometimes too sensitive. It was just Colin being a Colon. Big whoop. |

Its dangerous for him now.

And does anyone realize his last name? There's a mental defect in someone who'd keep that last name... |

I lived in Chattanooga about 5 years ago and would listen to this #@$@##%@%@# in the mornings for something to listen to (yes, not much else on).
I remember him running his yap about how big his arms where and how fast he was. He challenged someone to a race and got his arse smoked. As for his arms, I'm vertically challenged, but I could toss this weenie through the nearest wall. He's a joke... |
I totally did note see that he bashed the city for no hotels...AWESOME!!!!!!!!! That is epic, what the ****?

Thank you Sir for standing up for the great city of New Orleans. We know about the life of this city and so do all of our visitors.
New Orleans is blessed with a vibrant feeling. We have some negative aspects but as was said earlier every big city has innate problems. |
