The nightmare of all nightmares: No Brees
What if quarterback Drew Brees doesn’t get a long-term deal and somehow ends up sitting out the entire 2012 season?
If you’re a New Orleans Saints fan, this is where your stage of sleep goes from just dozing off to the start of the worst nightmare ever. This is where all the good feeling Brees has brought to New Orleans since 2006, and especially since the start of the 2009 season, disappears. This is where the Saints go from being the elite team they’ve been the past few years back to the mediocrity that was their trademark through almost their entire previous existence. This is where Chase Daniel takes the first snap of the season at home against the Washington Redskins on Sept. 9 and starts through the regular-season finale Dec. 30 at home against Carolina. Do you really think he's sit out and miss 16 Million? No.

I'll still watch and root for the Saints.

I still can't believe Pat actually gets paid for this drivel.

I could actually see Drew in the Broadcast Booth next to Payton if he decides to sit out.

Unlike most here I agree with this opinion entirely. That is why I am worried and I do think he will sit if the Saints do not take care of him. Chase Daniel is not going to be a savior he will lose a lot of games for us. He is not the answer. The Saints are playing with fire here and I hope they wake up or the season will be lost. Sure I will root for them but any aspirations of making it to the big show are off if Brees does not play this year and I will really be pissed with this organization. I think a lot of people will be so pissed with management they will not continue to support them. I for one will be protesting anyway I can.

Rumors: Could Drew Brees Sit Out Year if No Deal with Saints is Reached?
The New Orleans Saints and Drew Brees have been trying long and hard to reach a new, long-term contract. So far, talks haven't really gone anywhere and it seems both sides are starting to get really frustrated.
Brees is looking to become the highest-paid player in the league, and he wants to get that deal put together by July 16. What happens if he doesn't? Writes Pat Yasinskas of ESPN: Quote:

In that case the Dome would collapse game over! But in the era of re-cycling we all still have our bags and we will need them.
