Falcons trying to be the Saints?

Ryan’s 68 yards passing on screens last season ranked 32nd in the NFL, and he had just 20 attempts. If the Falcons can get the ball more quickly in space to Jones -- their fastest receiver -- they can force defenses to spread out and limit the blitz.

Over the last couple of seasons all they have tried to do is be us this is nothing new. The Jaquizz Rodgers pick ( ala Reggie Bush, Darren Sproles) says Saints, and so does spending four picks on Julio Jones. What did it get them..... Everything on their team is aging. Micheal Turner, Tony Gonzalez. Anybody expecting them to take a step in the wrong direction like me?

Too many layers to wash off that turd to even get close.

Speaking of the screen game; they'll never be as good as we are!

Who can blame them for wanting to be like us, We are WINNERS after all

They'll never be as good as us

As long as skid breeches is the one throwing the ball, they'll never be as effective as the Saints in their offense.

But it'll be interesting to see what Nolan is able to do with their D versus how Spags works out for the Saints. The Failclowns were as pathetic as the Saints with their pass rush, so it's interesting to see which DC will be able to improve their D more in regards to that dimension of the D. I did want either Spags or Nolan to be the new DC for the Saints and I'm happy that it was Spags because I think that he better suits what the Saints are all about as a D and as a team. Also, I thought that if they brought in Nolan, it would mean that the Saints would move into a 3-4 base defense, but that didn't happen in Atlanta, so that's another thing to watch for - can Nolan be an effective DC while having to play with a 4-3 base?

Still, I do think that the division title is going to be decided between the Saints and the Failclowns because I just don't believe in the progression of the Panties and Newton (while a really good QB, he's somewhat immature and the Pro Bowl game performance says a lot to me about what kind of a guy he is in the end). And Tampoon Bay is just not ready to be a contender any time soon, unless of course Freeman suddenly becomes a much better QB in almost all areas of his game.

Just me or does their GM look like Charlie Sheen in that pic?

You emulate the best if you want to be the best. The problem is they don't have the offensive genius or the talent that we do.

Mardigras9 06-11-2012 01:38 PM

They have seen the best in their own division twice a year for the last 6 years, who can blame them.

Way to show up 6 seasons and a SB late to the party with the screen game falcons........good luck winning the division with noodle arm (Ryan), brick hands (Roddy White), Ricky Williams pt 2 - 4 draft picks...really(Jones), and Mr. Pull Over Dat A** Too Fat (Turner).

Think we are going to have our way more with them this year. We took one of their best defensive players. And with a ne look defense it is going to be harder for them to get those big plays that kept them so close. I think we will see a decline in their reacord this year.

I'm not saying that you're not right about the Saints having their way with the Failclowns this coming season, but we have to remember that they are also implementing a new defense with Nolan, just like the Saints are with Spags.

So, their defense having been one of the weakest in pass rush during the past couple of years - along with the Saints - could get a lot better regardless of the fact that they lost Lofton, and because of that the Saints might face some problems of their own facing their new-look defense.

Again, I'm not saying that it'll ultimately affect the fact that the Saints are going to steamroll them this coming season, but it's something to be mindful of, and a nice competition of it's own between the division rivals: which of them will be able to field a better defense under a new defensive coordinator?

:bng:
