Roger Goodell Creates Anonymous 'Bounty Tip Line' for NFL Players, Coaches
 

The NFL's stiff actions against the Saints were made much clearer by the joint conference between Goodell and Durbin on Wednesday. The harsh penalties seemingly helped to create the impression that the league will not stand for such actions and that aggressive action would be taken against not just the players but the bounty system as a whole.

Even if those actions may prove to be careless and based on unsubstantiated evidence. Only time will tell if the punishments were warranted.

When this whole bounty mess started, I had a suspicion it had a lot more to do with Congress and its probing of the NFL: Congress has been on the NFL's ass for some time now about player safety, HGH testing, etc... something that would hurt the NFL more than ex-player lawsuits? Congress revoking the NFL's Antitrust Exemption. The lawsuits, they can settle and figure out a schedule, much like the tobacco industry did; but take away the NFL's ability to negotiate tv contracts as a whole entity, a whole different story.

Which raises the question of why he didn't do this when he first got wind of whatever he got wind of 3 years ago. I guess he will start a concussion hotline in a few years when it finally sinks in.

Exactly! I have stated this before, if the jackwagon were truly interested in stopping Bounties or pay for performance, or player safety or any of the other umbrella catch alls they are using to justify this... They would have not sent a memo to the Saints front office.

The NFL would have issues a public statement to ALL Teams, ALL players, ALL owners, every swinging Richard that has anything to do with the NFL saying.. from this point on... none of this will be tolerated and any one caught will face the guillotine.
