NFL calls 'bounty' evidence authentic; Vitt questions
1 Attachment(s)
The players and NFL Players Association have publicly battled the NFL with great intensity in regards to the investigations of the New Orleans Saints' "bounty" scandal and punishment levied by the league.
Wyche: Show and tell Does the NFL have proof that the Saints implemented a "bounty" program? Steve Wyche got a good look at the evidence. More ... Saints coaches, for the most part, have stayed quiet and accepted their punishment. That's starting to change. Saints interim head coach Joe Vitt aggressively defended his role in the pay-for-performance program in a public statement Wednesday, and took things one step further during an interview with the New Orleans Times-Picayune. Vitt questioned the authenticity of the documents used by the NFL for evidence against the Saints, including the one that suggest Vitt contributed money to a bounty pool on Brett Favre. "There's gotta be some concerns from the league's standpoint and anybody's standpoint about the authenticity of any of these documents," Vitt said. "I think that's a huge concern," Vitt said. "It looks like that document has been falsified or tampered with. What kind of credibility do they have if they take documents like that and show it to players?" NFL Spokesman Greg Aiello told Around the League that the documents are authentic. Vitt did not suggest who would have provided false evidence or who would have doctored the evidence. We are past being surprised about any new development in this bounty mess. We'll only be surprised when new twists and turns in the story finally stop. Flawed evdence
If you're a fan from a rival team...
if you think the Saints are 1000% guilty of a scandalous bounty.... if you think every player is lying and the Saints are guilty before being innocent.... if you are reading this.... if you HATE the Saints in general.... if YOU have any shred of REASONABLE THINKING then this video piece and "authentic evidence" MUST leave SOME doubt in your mind. This ledger is heavily depended on by Goodell against Vilma as evidence. On the same ledger Vitt's name appears as "Vitt = $5000" When Vitt questions this the league says that this ledger did not play into his punishment. When the league is questioned about this, the NFL is "unable to corroborate the $ figure for Vitt." But they are able to corroborate this ledger as evidence for VIlma? It's called faulty or flawed evidence and leads ANYONE to believe that this typed letter from a handwritten note (which is flawed to start with) is a falsehood: a fabrication. It's not reliable. This "ledger" will not be admissible in a court of law and a judge may strike it from the record completely so it cannot be considered evidence of ANYTHING. Therefore, if this ledger is so key to the NFL's case against Vilma, and the ledger is either a fake or fabrication, then where does that leave Vilma's case?????? |

The major problem is that Goodell is the judge & jury. What won't stand up in a court of law is apparently solid proof to Goodell.
